Full Job Description

Are you passionate about protecting people, communities, and operations when it matters most? We’re looking for a dynamic emergency management professional to help provide emergency planning and response support to Suncor’s Midstream East, Central, and St. Clair Ethanol Production Units.

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of emergency readiness — developing response plans, leading drills and large-scale exercises, supporting incident response teams, and driving continuous improvement across emergency management and business continuity programs. You’ll work closely with site teams, regulators, municipal fire services, mutual aid partners, and community response networks to ensure our people, facilities, and surrounding communities are prepared for any situation.

Salary Range: $120,000- $140,000 Annually
Salary ranges are included for job postings where required by law. Within the range, individual pay isdeterminedby work location andadditionalfactors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Five or more years of experience in fire protection services or 10 years industrial-related emergency response experience
  • Fluent bilingual proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken
  • Current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certifications in Firefighting, Hazmat, and Rescue Response, and / or Incident Command System (ICS) Training with On-scene Incident Commander Experience
  • Strong instructional skills with the ability to develop training materials
  • Working knowledge of hazardous material and spill response practices
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and non-authoritative leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the business

Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency planning and response support to Suncor’s Midstream East, Central, and St. Clair Ethanol Production Units, including participation in Response Management Teams during incidents as required
  • Develop, update, and maintain Emergency Response Plans, emergency pre-plans, response protocols, preparedness procedures, and associated worst-case/alternative scenario studies and risk assessments in support of regulatory compliance, including requirements
  • Establish and implement procedures for the inspection, testing, maintenance, procurement, and improvement of emergency response equipment, facilities, and infrastructure, coordinating with vendors and engineering teams to ensure operational readiness
  • Coordinate and deliver emergency response training programs, identify training needs, maintain certifications for fire, rescue, medical, and oil spill response teams, and coach site response management teams during drills, exercises, and events
  • Plan, facilitate, and document small- to large-scale emergency exercises, including marine exercises, with internal and external stakeholders to support compliance and continuous improvement
  • Serve as liaison with municipal fire services, mutual aid agencies, community awareness and emergency response networks, and provincial/federal regulators, applying joint response tactics and planning principles
  • Provide incident response guidance to field personnel and support site response leadership during emergency events
  • Lead post-incident lessons learned, performance indicator tracking, and cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives supporting OEMS emergency management and business continuity processes

Location and other Key details:

  • You will work out of our Oakville Business Centre located at 3275 Rebecca St
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs, including being on-call as appropriate and potentially working night shifts as necessary during outages, and/or emergencies

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and ability to travel to other locations as required
