Meta Reality Labs is seeking an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Design Engineer to help design and validate the hardware systems powering next-generation virtual and augmented reality devices. In this role, you will apply signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC principles to ensure reliable, high-performance operation of wearable computing platforms, including VR headsets and AR glasses. You will work across the full hardware development lifecycle, from early schematic review through board bring-up and regulatory compliance testing, contributing directly to the quality and reliability of immersive computing experiences.
Responsibilities
Contribute to EMC grounding and shielding design, collaborating with different engineering teams to balance system/product constraints with the various compliance standards
• Contribute to design specifications and guidelines with clear risk trade-offs to our cross-functional partners
• Collaborate on the development of simulation methodology and flow for complex system-level product design needs, from DC to EM frequency band for Electromagnetic and multi-physics effects
• Support design troubleshooting through the use of simulation and lab data; propose corrective actions, drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design experiments to resolve problems
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or Master's or Ph.D.'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years of industry experience in EMC design and simulation
• Experience in EM simulation and measurement areas
• Possess the EM fundamentals, including grounding and shielding theory
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
