Join a strategic initiative to transform our broadband device software development organization. As an Embedded Linux Software Engineer, Principal - you will contribute to the development of high-quality, innovative software for the next generation of broadband gateways serving 15 million+ customers. You willleverageyourexpertiseto drive technical excellence, integrate AI solutions, and champion a quality-first approach to software delivery.Your individual contributions will help differentiate our software in a highly competitive market and play a vital role in shaping industry-leading products.

What You'll Do:

Embedded Linux Software development for Broadband Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).

  • MigratingCPEfrom a proprietarysoftwareplatform to an OpensourcePrplware(OpenWRT) basedsoftware solution.
  • Design, Develop and Documentexisting systems to improve reliability and develop new innovative features.
  • Software development for new Hardware withcutting-edgefeatures and technology.
  • Manage ongoing software architectural updates that include newPrplware,OpenWRTand Linux Kernel versions.
  • Development in an Agile environment with up to 5 releases a year.
  • Develop automated testing tovalidatenew features.
  • Develop applications to run in a Lifecycle Management (LCM) containeron the Broadband CPE.

What You'll Need:

  • Knowledge of Linux operatingsystem, process execution, multi-process environments, inter-process communication.Good understanding of networking fundamentals, UDP/TCP basics, packetflow through the Linux packet processing stack.Understanding ofLinuxfirewalland routing concepts.Knowledge of common networking protocols: DHCP, DNS.Familiarity withtcpdumpand network protocol analysis.
  • Knowlegeofwificoncepts, AP and station roles,associationand authentication ofwifistations, configuration ofssids.
  • Familiarity with thegcctoolchain and debugging stack traces.Familiarity with syslog and logging concepts.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Extensive experience with C programming.Familiarity with standard C libraries, and other common libraries likelibssl,libcrypto,libcurl.Knowledge ofprplwarelibraries.Familiarity with theOpenWrtbuild system, and its IPC mechanismubus,overlayfs, and its config system UCI.
  • 7+ years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Track recordof creatinginnovative solutions and new applications throughthe design,development, andcoding forinnovative Consumer and businessapplications.
