Mount Greylock Regional School District is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Principal for Williamstown Elementary School (grades pre-k - 6), located in Williamstown, Massachusetts. REPORTS TO: Principal POSITION STATEMENT: The Assistant Principal at Williamstown Elementary School is a vital member of the administrative team, responsible for supporting the Principal in the daily operations of the school, cultivating a positive school culture, and fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. This individual must have a deep love of community, particularly in the area of cultivating the best possible environment for students to engage, learn, and grow, strong knowledge of child development and behavioral support strategies, and the ability to be a consistent and caring presence for students, staff, and families. The Assistant Principal serves as an ambassador for the school, promoting a culture of collaboration, respect, and restorative practices. Qualifications: Required: • Master's degree in Education or related field • Massachusetts DESE licensure as Assistant Principal/Principal (PreK-6) or eligibility for licensure • Minimum of three years' teaching experience, preferably at the elementary level • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and the social-emotional well-being of students Preferred: • Experience with restorative justice, PBIS, or trauma-informed practices • Familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and DESE Teacher Evaluation System • Experience with student behavior intervention and support services • Proficiency with education technology and student information systems Responsibilities & Essential Functions (which include but are not limited to): Leadership & School Culture • Partner with the Principal to implement the school's mission, vision, and goals. • Foster a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. • Serve as a visible and accessible leader within the school community. • Promote restorative practices and proactive behavior interventions. • Model ethical and professional behavior at all times. Student Support & Interventions • Oversee the school's administrative response to student behaviors. • Implement and manage restorative-based disciplinary processes aligned with developmental needs of elementary-aged children. • Collaborate with support staff to create, monitor, and evaluate behavioral intervention plans. • Serve as a liaison to families regarding student behavior concerns and supports. Staff Supervision & Support • Conduct educator and staff evaluations in accordance with the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Framework and the district's collective bargaining agreements. • Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to support staff growth. • Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of new staff. • Promote positive staff morale and collaborative problem-solving. Family & Community Engagement • Communicate effectively and compassionately with families and guardians. • Engage families as partners in student success and school culture. • Represent the school positively within the broader community. Operational Support • Assist in coordinating state and local assessments. • Monitor student attendance and address concerns with appropriate interventions. • Collaborate in updating and implementing school safety and emergency protocols. • Assist in overseeing 504 Plan development and implementation. • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Principal. • Participate in the planning and supervision of school events, activities, and after-school programming. Other Duties • Participate in district-level professional learning and leadership meetings. • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and district policies. • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent. Benefits & Compensation: Annual salary range: $90,000 - $105,000, commensurate with education and experience.
