The Parts, Materials & Processes Department (PMPD) includes subject matter experts across a broad range of areaspertaining toelectrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) parts procurement, qualification, application, rootcause failureanalysis, as well as materials and processes. Ourexpertisecombined with a sophisticated in-house electroniccomponentlaboratory deliver innovative analysis and PM&P program management capabilities to national space systems and civil customers. 

PMPD is seekinga Parts,Materials, andProcessesEngineer(Engineering Specialist- Microelectronics / Semiconductor Engineering)withproficiencyin PM&P management. The candidate will support NASA GFE Flight Projects and NASA Programs.

The selected candidate will be required to work full time on-site at our facility at Houston, TX

What You27ll Be Doing

  • Supporting PM&P program management functions 6 i.e., considering the application, standardization, technology (new and aging), system reliability, maintainability, supportability, and cost in designing or selecting PM&P and addressing availability, logistics support,Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS), and legacy issues in supporting them throughout the life of the systems

  • Validating PM&P selection, screening/testing, qualification based on requirements/specifications, verification of program approved PM&P lists, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing the bill of materials (BOM) to balance cost and quality.

  • May lead cross-organizational teams and organize interfaces within department

  • Collaborate with industry colleagues, and component supplier personnel to create/maintain guidance and requirements related to selection, screening, qualification, and root cause failure analysis

  • Act as organization27s designated representative at technical meetings, presentation, and workshops

  • May mentor less experienced staff 6 as required 6 and serve as role model

What You Need to be Successful 6 Engineering Specialist

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor27s degree from an accredited university in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or anotherappropriate discipline 

  • Eight or more years of demonstrated growth and proficiencyin PMP Management and applicable requirements and standards (AEC-Q, NASA and/or national security space)

  • Excellent record of customer communication and interaction

  • Willingness to travel [domestically/internationally] approx. 25% averaged over time

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance (US citizenship required to obtain security clearance)

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree from an accredited university in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or anotherappropriate discipline    

  • Demonstrated ability to assess AEC-Q or non-MIL PRF parts and developappropriate methodsfor use in space and related high-reliability applications

  • Hold an active TS/SSBI security clearance

  • Proficiencyin common root cause analysis tools during problem resolution

  • Experience collaborating with contractors, industry working groups, and/or associations such as NASA Electronics Parts Assurance Group, Defense Logistics Agency, Joint Electron Device Engineering Council, Automotive Electronics Council, during the evaluation,selection, and adaptation of active electronic parts for space-related applications] 

  • Possess project management skills in applications such as MS Project, Jira, etc.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
