ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking an Electronics/Electrical Engineer to support the National Weather Service (NWS) Radar Operations Center (ROC) in Norman, OK. This role supports engineering initiatives across radar systems and associated electrical and electronic subsystems critical to the NEXRAD network.
The selected candidate will contribute to the Engineering Branch by supporting system analysis, testing, performance evaluation, and technical documentation efforts. This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, maintainability, and advancement of radar and electronic systems supporting national weather operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis, evaluation, and testing of electrical, electronic, and power system designs and performance
- Support development of engineering prototypes, technical studies, and design improvements
- Produce and maintain engineering documentation, technical reports, and design specifications
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with radar and electronic systems and equipment
- Apply engineering practices and procedures to support system design, integration, and lifecycle sustainment
- Support testing activities to validate system functionality, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, software, and field engineering personnel
- Participate in feasibility and performance analysis for system upgrades and modifications
- Support compliance with engineering standards, safety practices, and program requirements
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
- Active/Current Public Trust Clearance
- Experience providing electronics or electrical engineering service
- Experience analyzing and testing electrical, power, and electronic systems
- Experience producing engineering prototypes, studies, and technical documentation
- Knowledge of standard engineering practices, principles, and procedures
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and apply it to system analysis and design
- Familiarity with laboratory and diagnostic equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
- Willingness to support testing, integration, and field-related engineering efforts
- Ability to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialized experience with radar systems and associated electronic equipment
- Knowledge of radar principles, signal processing, and system performance analysis
- Experience working with complex electronic or RF-based systems
- Familiarity with system-level integration and evaluation of radar or communications equipment
Great-to-Have Experience:
- Exposure to weather radar systems or NEXRAD architecture
- Experience supporting federal or DoD engineering programs
- Familiarity with test planning, verification, and validation processes
- Experience using engineering analysis or modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW)
- Hands-on experience with electronic system assembly, integration, or field support
Target Salary Range$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
