SUMMARY:
Analyze data and design reports, graphs, and charts in support of clinical, business, and grant requirements using the Electronic Health Record and Practice Management databases. Candidate must have strong experience in data conversion and transformation among different sources and data types, including HL7 messages. Must have demonstrated experience with SQL, HL7, Power BI, EHRs, and knowledge of capturing existing systems requirements and functionality. Experience with interfaces and Meaningful Use reporting preferred. Act as a resource for other programmer/analysts when questions arise concerning electronic health records applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Design, develop, and document programmatic fixes and changes to the electronic health data reports and communicate changes to be made in a proactive manner to ensure user satisfaction.
- Create, maintain, and enhance Reports and Dashboards using SSRS, Crystal Reports, Power BI and the EHR application.
- Analyze data requests to determine the best practical solution for report requests.
- Executes and monitors recurring reports including, but not limited to, GPRA, CAIR, NPIRS, IDA, and NIRS
- NIRS = National Immunization Reporting System, IDA = IHS Diabetes Audit, NPIRS = National Patient Information Reporting System, CAIR = California Immunization Registry, GPRA = Government Performance Results Act
- Coordinate with peer team and senior management on design ideas and ways of developing and implementing changes to the EHR with respect to current reporting requirements.
- Monitor existing reports and infrastructure, identify and implement optimizations to both performance and accuracy as required and appropriate.
- Provide users with assistance solving EHR/PM, and application related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems.
- Triage tickets via the Help Desk for EHR related issues and consult with vendor as needed.
- Develop test plans and test cases to validate changes made to the health record application and reports.
- Develop an expert level or super-user understanding of the EHR application for support and limited training purposes.
- Work closely with the EHR Trainer to communicate EHR application changes and/or new functionality for inclusion into the training curriculum.
- Work closely with the EHR Manager to align reporting requirements with project planning needs.
- Work closely with subject matter experts to produce detailed requirements documentation for new and existing reports.
- Report problems and significant areas of end-user/client concern to the EHR Manager.
- Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
- Reports hardware systems problems to Information Systems Manager.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Maintain a professional, organized, and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and acceptable safety standards.
- Adheres to Data Governance guidelines when evaluating the need for or developing new reports as well as in the maintenance and life cycle of existing reports
- Attend committee, staff and other assigned meetings. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one Cultural Presentation/Training per year.

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES: - This position has no supervisory responsibilities. General supervision of routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; occasional check of work while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school- Associates Degree or University Program Certificate with major focus of study in computer programming, management information systems, or computer science.

- A minimum of four (4) years of experience developing software applications and reports, with two (2) of those years in a health care application setting.
- Experience with Epic reporting is preferred.
- All candidates must have demonstrable experience in SQL, software development best practices, user support, and the confidence and ability to apply this knowledge to technical topics in a medical setting.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS:- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, advanced database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
