Job Description:

Design, development and testing of electronic control modules (ECM/ECU) for use within machines and engine systems.

What You Will Do:
• Overseeing compliance with functional & environmental requirements, development processes, and regulations for ECM/ECUs.
• Development of product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout review, and platform verification and validation.
• Collaboration with various levels of software as well as machine and engine systems teams to ensure the platform integrates into multiple applications.
• Managing and negotiating with ECM/ECU vendors for the development of systems and components.
• Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to ECM/ECUs during development and through the production lifecycle.
• Mentoring technicians and engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems and components

What You Will Have:
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Electronics Engineering - HTH: Knowledge of electronics engineering; ability to design, test and manufacture electronic circuits, components and devices.

Product Design - HTH: Knowledge of and the ability to utilize design tools (e.g. CAD) to convert customer and market requirements into a product design.

Reliability Management - HTH: Knowledge of reliability management; ability to utilize various tools, techniques, methodologies and metrics to meet and manage hardware product performance and reliability objectives.

Mechanical Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of mechanical engineering processes, techniques and methods; ability to design and implement machines and other mechanical devices that safely realize a desired objective or invention.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing and product development environment.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
• Advanced degree in an accredited Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering curriculum.
• Technical and functional understanding of analog and/or digital circuitry including design, simulation, analysis, reviews of schematics and/or layouts.
• A strong understanding of New Product Development (NPI), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), proactive reliability, Collaborative Product and Process Development (CPPD), budgeting and FMEAs is required.
• Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams
• Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments
• Experience with Environmental validation, EMC testing, Safety and Regulatory Compliance
• Experience with Machine or Engine system Electronic Control modules

• The location for this position is Dallas, TX.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
