Full Job Description
The Parks Journeyperson Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across West Edmonton Mall's Parks and Attractions. This includes supporting the safe and efficient operation of amusement rides, lighting systems, pump motor controls, and other critical infrastructure in areas such as Galaxyland, World Waterpark, Deep Sea Adventure (DSA), and the Aquariums.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on rides and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
  • Troubleshoot and repair ride control systems, including interpreting fault codes on PLCs and reading electrical/electronic schematics.
  • Carry out new electrical installations in compliance with the Alberta Electrical Code.
  • Maintain and replace lighting throughout Parks & Attractions areas.
  • Work with and become familiar with equipment such as pump motor controls and ride-specific electronics.
  • Conduct electrical repairs for various park equipment (e.g., drills, welders, extension cords).
  • Operate aerial lifts and work safely at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Participate in annual ride inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Follow all safety protocols and mall policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrician Certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in an industrial, amusement park, or commercial facility environment.
  • Experience with electronics, PLCs, and control systems is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of tools and equipment such as aerial work platforms, man lifts, power tools, and test instruments (e.g., multimeters, meggers).
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying items weighing between 10-100 lbs.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Regular shift: 5 days/week, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (weekends and evenings as scheduled).
  • Participation in an on-call rotation (1-week duration, company phone provided).
  • Exposure to varying environments (humid, hot, noisy, high-risk areas).
  • This position has a starting wage of $39.50/hour.
  • Must successfully pass a basic security clearance.
