Position Summary

FlackTek is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, documentation, integration, and troubleshooting of electrical systems used in our industrial mixing and processing equipment.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on electrical schematics, control panel documentation, machine wiring, production support, commissioning, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with controls, mechanical engineering, software, production, quality, and service teams to ensure FlackTek machines are reliable, manufacturable, serviceable, and well documented.

This role is well suited for someone with experience in industrial automation, machine controls, electrical troubleshooting, panel wiring, and practical machine integration.

This role reports to: Engineering Director

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Documentation
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable documentation, BOMs, and related machine documentation.
  • Support electrical system design for industrial machinery, including power distribution, safety circuits, sensors, actuators, motors, drives, control panels, and machine wiring.
  • Assist with electrical component selection based on reliability, availability, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Support grounding, shielding, electrical noise mitigation, and clean industrial wiring practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation through engineering release, ECO/ECR, and revision-control processes.

Machine Integration & Production Support
  • Support production and engineering teams during machine builds, electrical checkout, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Especially during complex or first-of-a-kind builds.
  • Wire, modify, and test prototype panels, special machine configurations, and customer-specific options.
  • Verify that electrical assemblies match released drawings, schematics, BOMs, and wiring documentation.
  • Work with controls engineers to support I/O mapping, sensor validation, drive integration, safety circuit verification, and machine bring-up.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues in production, testing, and service environments.

Reliability, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Investigate electrical issues and support root-cause analysis for production and field problems.
  • Use production and service feedback to improve electrical documentation, wiring practices, component selection, and system reliability.
  • Review designs and documentation for consistency with applicable electrical, machine safety, and certification requirements.
  • Support compliance efforts related to UL508A, NFPA 79, IEC/CE requirements, machine safety, and industrial control panel practices.

Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on industrial automation or electrical systems experience may also be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical systems, machine automation, controls support, electrical design, manufacturing equipment, or related hands-on technical work.
