Overview

Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer, based out of Billerica, MA.

Working within the Cargo and Vehicle Inspection section of the Rapiscan Systems Engineering team, you will support projects across the product lifecycle, including concept development, new product introduction, production support and continuous improvement. As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of electrical drawings and PLC/HMI code for CVI x-ray scanning equipment. Working within the Electrical Engineering team, you will support drawing updates, BoM management, PLC updates, revision control and lifecycle management under the direction of senior engineers and engineering management.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret specifications and customer requirements from Sales, Project Managers and Engineering Management.
  • Produce technical documentation to support designs.
  • Create electrical schematics and 3D panel layouts using Eplan P8 and Pro Panel.
  • Export BoM data for electrical hardware.
  • Create PLC code using Studio5000 & CoDeSys in line with the system architecture.
  • Programming, configuration and design of HMI screens to match the system's requirements.
  • Issue designs into the PLM system via the ECO process.
  • Provide technical support through production and commissioning.
  • Work within the company quality and safety procedures.
  • Provide service support and action ECRs allocated.
  • Providing support for commissioning of all cargo equipment in factory and on site.
  • Support the R & D group to realise the full potential of new technologies.
  • Transition of new products from the design phase into main factory production.
  • Provide onsite technical support for installation, commissioning and service teams.
  • Support engineering activities that contribute to business objectives and project delivery plans.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant technology developments and engineering standards that may support product improvement.
  • Contribute to engineering discussions that support product improvement and future development opportunities.
  • Support the verification and validation of designs through simulation, testing and analysis, ensuring work is completed in line with safety requirements, performance standards and engineering best practice.
  • Identify and raise opportunities for design optimisation, cost reduction and performance improvement, with support from senior engineers where required.

Qualifications

  • BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience) or other relevant field of study
  • 2-3 years' experience in a relevant field of work
  • Experience in PLC Programming platforms such as Studio5000 or CoDeSys.
  • Experience programming VFD/Servo Drives within Rockwell environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical control systems including PLC controllers.
  • Flexibility to respond to changing business needs.
  • Willingness to travel with good presentation skills.
  • Great time management skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team and individually.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams & Word).
  • Experience in using CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Eplan or Solidworks Electrical.

pay may range from $100,000 to $108,000 annually

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
