The OpportunityMoment Energy is seeking an
Electrical Systems Architect to design and develop the electrical systems that power Moment Energy's next-generation Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of system design, manufacturability, and product integration.
Working closely with the Lead Electrical Engineer and cross-functional teams, you will translate system architecture into robust, production-ready electrical designs that can be reliably manufactured, installed, and deployed at scale. Your expertise in high-voltage battery systems, wiring design, protection systems, and electrical integration will play a critical role in bringing our products from concept to certified, manufacturable systems.
Responsibilities and Duties- Design and develop electrical system architectures for Battery Energy Storage Systems, including HV distribution, protection, and interconnect strategies.
- Translate high-level product architecture into detailed electrical designs suitable for manufacturing and deployment.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness designs for production systems.
- Define electrical interfaces between battery modules, BMS, PCS/inverters, safety systems, and control systems.
- Design high-voltage AC & DC distribution systems (600V+), including protection devices, disconnects, busbars, and safety interlocks.
- Ensure electrical systems meet safety, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
- Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure electrical designs can be built efficiently on the production floor.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical components within enclosures and system packaging.
- Support UL product certification efforts, including UL1973, UL9540, and UL9540A requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical integration issues during prototype builds, validation testing, and product launches.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, documentation practices, and electrical architecture guidelines.

- Strong experience with high-voltage DC systems (600V+), including protection, grounding, and safety strategies.
- Strong experience with 3-phase AC systems (480V+), including transformers, switch gear and breaker sizing
- Expertise in electrical schematics, wiring design, and system integration.
- Experience designing systems that must meet CEC, NEC and UL safety standards or equivalent certification requirements.
- Demonstrated experience bringing electrical systems from prototype to production.
- Strong collaboration skills with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams.
- Previous experience in a high-growth fast-paced environment is highly desired.
Nice-to-Have Experience:- Experience working with lithium-ion battery systems.
- Familiarity with grid-connected energy systems or PCS integration.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for serviceability (DFS).
- Knowledge of UL1973, UL1974 UL9540, UL1741 and UL9540A certification processes.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards; dual exposure to CEC and NEC.
