Full Job Description
The Role:

As the Electrical Supervisor at our sawmill, you will lead a team of union electricians responsible for maintaining and improving the electrical and control systems that keep our mill running. From troubleshooting high-voltage equipment to supporting PLC-driven optimization systems, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient mill operations.

You will coordinate daily work, support preventive and predictive maintenance, and partner closely with production leadership to minimize downtime. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to work effectively within a union environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support a team of union electricians in a high-volume sawmill environment.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, OSHA, mill safety rules, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on saw lines, conveyors, Debarker, chippers, and optimization equipment.
  • Diagnose issues involving PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and industrial automation.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders to maintain equipment uptime and production flow.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to plan and execute repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems, PM tasks, and equipment history.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for electrical failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and testing of new mill equipment and control systems.
  • Manage inventory of electrical parts, tools, and critical spares.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and maintain positive labor relations.
  • Participate in capital project planning and provide technical guidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proven track record of meeting KPIs and maintenance targets.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient with CMMS systems and Microsoft® Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.


Work Environment

This role operates in professional office and an active sawmill. Exposure to industrial environments, including high-speed machinery and moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, noise, vibration, and airborne particulates. Temperature changes in indoor and outdoor conditions should be expected.

Position Type/Travel/Schedule

This is an exempt position and not eligible for overtime. A typical schedule requires 40 hours per week, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, or calls to support critical mill operations. Limited travel may be required for training or vendor coordination.
