Electrical Supervising Engineer - Nuclear

FT role

Location : Newport, Michigan

Summary

United Engineers and Constructors is looking for an Electrical Supervising Engineer to lead a team and Controls engineers and designers, providing continuous, on-site support for a nuclear plant in the Detroit/Chicago/Toledo area.

Requirements
  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year university.
  • 8+ years overall experience in design electrical and I&C systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
  • 5 years of experience in electrical and I&C system design for nuclear plants in North America.
  • Familiarity with the nuclear standard design process, and experience preparing engineering drawings including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, ISA and IAEA Codes and Standards and NRC Reg Guides relating to nuclear plant licensing and design.
  • Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, client, contractors and vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Teams.
  • Must be a Citizen of the U.S. and able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. Nuclear Power Plant including Fitness for Duty requirements.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity.


Responsibilities
Work entails supervisory oversight and approval of Engineering Change Packages consisting of:
  • Equipment specifications, data sheets, calculations, and analysis as required to support the design and configuration control process.
  • Equipment specifications include transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS/DC, communication systems, digital and process instrumentation and controls system components.
  • Calculations include electrical studies including short circuit, voltage drop, coordination and arc flash studies using OTI-ETAP software.
  • Electrical/I&C design documents including single line diagrams and panel schedules, schematic and wiring diagrams, electrical physical and raceway drawings, lighting and grounding plans, and cable schedules.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include review of proposals, schedules and budgets; monitoring and reporting budget and schedule performance; and providing technical leadership to engineers and designers for the Electrical/I&C discipline.
  • Candidate will support multiple projects and will coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors and other members of the project teams.
