Job Summary
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Electrical/Software Engineer to join the Ocean Systems Lab within the Applied Ocean Physics & Engineering Department. Join our group designing underwater communications systems for robotic applications.Job Description
This is an entry- to early-careerposition within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers focused on underwater optical communications and marine robotics. The role offers hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, and testing of advanced underwater communication systems.
In theinitialphase, the candidate will develop familiarity with core technologies and contribute to system assembly, integration, and testing. As experience grows, the candidate will take on increasing responsibility in the development of new communication techniques and applications for underwater platforms.
The position requires creativity, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.A strong foundationin electrical engineering principles is expected,demonstratedthrough a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
This position may be filled at the Engineer I or Engineer II level, depending on the selected candidates qualifications and experience.
Essential Functions & Duties
Embedded systems development in C++ or Python
Ability to read schematics and use oscilloscopes for signal tracing and troubleshooting
Timing
General communications
Wiring,cablingand other fields.
Willing and able to support at-sea and field deployments
