Full Job Description
Reporting to the QA Manager, this position is responsible for collaborating with commissioning personnel, line electricians, production teams, and both internal and external suppliers to troubleshoot, diagnose, document, and resolve electrical system and component issues. The role supports overall electrical product quality by identifying root causes, driving corrective actions, coordinating supplier quality improvements, and helping minimize bus downtime while ensuring compliance with quality and manufacturing standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Collaborate with commissioning personnel, line electricians, production teams, engineering, and quality personnel to investigate,

troubleshoot, and resolve electrical system and component quality issues while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

2. Lead root cause investigations related to electrical component failures, functional defects, and manufacturing quality concerns. Develop,

implement, and monitor containment and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.

3. Serve as the primary quality liaison between New Flyer and internal and external suppliers of electrical components, harnesses, and

electrical systems to improve product quality, reliability, and supplier performance.

4. Coordinate and manage Supplier Corrective Action Notices (SCANs), ensuring timely issuance, response, verification of effectiveness, and

closure while maintaining required quality records and documentation.

5. Monitor and evaluate supplier quality performance through data analysis, defect tracking, failure trends, and corrective action effectiveness.

Escalate recurring issues as necessary to improve supplier accountability.

6. Partner with Supplier Development Engineering (SDE), Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, and

Materials teams to identify and resolve quality issues affecting production, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

7. Collect, analyze, and report quality performance metrics, including supplier performance, electrical defects, line rejects, warranty trends,

and corrective action status. Prepare and present regular reports for management review.

8. Support process audits, quality inspections, validation activities, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving electrical

product quality and reducing manufacturing disruptions and bus downtime.

9. Maintain compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory and industry standards.

10. Perform all other duties and responsibilities within the Quality Department as assigned.

Requirements

Education

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or

university in Electrical Engineering, Electrical

Engineering Technology, Quality Engineering, or a

related technical discipline is required.

2. Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience

in electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics,

manufacturing, quality assurance, or a related field.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical systems,

schematics, and root cause analysis

methodologies.

4. Have or attain certification in IPC A610 and 62

Experience/Knowledge (Required Experience / Knowledge Only) LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess the ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics and ladder Logic PLC language, communicate professionally, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Must possess the ability to solve practical problems, deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific Job Skills (eg. computer skills, communication, motivation, organizational skills) Must have computer skills in Excel, Word and preferably experience with oracle and/or other data management systems. Must have experience with multiplex systems and troubleshooting electrical systems. Must have experience in root cause analysis, preventive and corrective action processes. Must have basic knowledge of: Ohms Law Series & Parallel Circuit fundamentals Recognizing generic industry schematic symbols Basic multimeter usage - checking voltage, resistance, continuity and amps Basic AC/DC knowledge (definition of each) Basic electrical components - switches, relays Types of electrical failure - shorts, opens, grounds
