Position SummaryThe Electrical Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for leading projects from pre-construction through closeout while also preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates. This dual-role position requires strong technical knowledge, financial oversight, and leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Pre-Construction- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed electrical estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and subcontractor pricing
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Prepare and present bid proposals and scope clarifications
- Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings
Project Management- Manage multiple electrical projects from award through completion
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and manpower plans
- Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, and field teams
- Monitor project progress, costs, and productivity
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies
- Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates
- Oversee procurement of materials and equipment
Financial & Operational Oversight- Track job costs, forecasting, and profitability
- Manage billing, cash flow, and project financial reporting
- Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs
- Ensure timely project closeout, including punch lists and final documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating and/or project management
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and NEC codes
- Experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, or similar)
- Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
