Our office in Kingston, ON, is looking for a Electrical Estimator to join our team.
Summary of the RoleReporting to the Electrical Division Manager, the Electrical Estimator is responsible for the pre-construction phase of electrical projects including the ability to price, administer, negotiate, and analyze the various stages of construction.
Key Responsibilities- Review bid packages to determine the resources required to complete requests for quotation.
- Coordinate estimates among involved trades, ensuring the tender scope is fully accounted for in the most cost-effective manner.
- Review bid documents and determine which subcontractors are required to support the completion of the bid.
- Prepare detailed bid packages and scopes of work for applicable trades and subcontractors to support the preparation of quotations.
- Assemble and compile pricing information.
- Assess the costs of rentals, tools, equipment, and non-productive labour, and determine the average labour rate.
- Coordinate tender proposal requirements.
- Review estimate components with the Estimating Manager prior to submitting to the customer.
- Prepare material takeoffs.
- Participate in post-tender activities.
- Attend kick-off meetings as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of current market conditions affecting construction costs.
- Maintain knowledge of contract law and obligations, material specifications, scheduling requirements, and regional factors affecting the supply of labour, materials, and modern construction methods.
- Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out safely and in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited policies and procedures, OHSAS 18001 standards, and OHSA requirements.
- Ensure environmental requirements within the assigned area of responsibility are adhered to in accordance with ISO 14001 standards.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills- Completion of post-secondary education in a technical discipline or equivalent construction industry electrical trade experience.
- 5 years of electrical estimating experience in industrial, commercial, and institutional industries.
- Knowledge of multi-trade disciplines.
- Construction estimator certified or enrolled in the Gold Seal Estimator Certification program (C.C.A.) is considered an asset.
- Adept in the use of computer software (used to complete estimates).
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, 3D viewing software.
- Ability to work on multiple estimates at a time
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and meet owner and company expectations
