Full Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:

Briefly summarize the requirements for this Job/Position

Through detailed engineering applications: Initiate, develop and install reliable and cost effective instrumentation, electronic hardware and custom software solutions for area process control platforms and global communication networks. Implement multiple projects while utilizing the best available technology, conforming to good engineering practice and applicable safety codes and regulations. Support the Production and Maintenance Departments in the safe operation of new and existing systems with timely troubleshooting skills and technical analysis. Knowledge of basic, site wide electrical power distribution methods and systems is a plus.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Electrical Engineering - Power Systems Focus
  • Maintain and improve plant electrical power infrastructure, including:
    • Substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs
    • Medium- and low-voltage distribution systems
  • Support power system reliability and performance across the facility
  • Monitor and maintain:
    • Power metering, reporting, and load management
    • UPS and battery backup systems
    • Power factor correction systems
  • Coordinate and support electrical testing programs:
    • Infrared inspections
    • Transformer oil analysis
    • Preventive and predictive maintenance activities
  • Assist with updates and maintenance of power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash)
  • Support troubleshooting of plant electrical issues impacting operations
  • Interface with maintenance and operations to ensure safe, reliable electrical systems

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITIES:

Capital Project Management with scope and estimate design decisions. Supervise I/E/C/N contractors for new project installations and help direct Site's I&E staff with necessary repairs as needed.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

State the minimum type and level of training and/or formal education and experience required to do your job.

Education: Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering

Related Experience: 3-5 years of chemical or industrial plant engineering experience and/or maintenance responsibilities in support manufacturing operations specializing in digital based instrumentation, electronic devices, digital equipment and network based communication architecture. Electrical Engineer, 10+ years of experience

Special Training or Competencies: Certificate(s) or demonstrated experience in PC operating systems and associated applications.

Preferred (Plus):
  • Experience supporting capital projects involving electrical power systems, including equipment specification, system design studies, upgrades or expansions of distribution systems, and field commissioning/startup
