Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Electrical Engineer will join Advanced Energy's (AE) Customer Experience Center (CEC) to develop solutions for EMC, safety, and system integration of power supplies. This position will envision and validate innovations solutions for a wide variety of applications for the industrial and medical space to accelerate our customer's adoption of AE solutions. This role will also be responsible for a diverse range of engineering tasks including designing, testing, and analyzing systems and components as part of a focused team. Lastly, this position will be responsible for summarizing results and delivering proposals to customers and leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, develop, and test solutions to integrate AE power supplies into customer systems to meet regulatory and safety requirements using analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, magnetic design, PCB layout.
  • Interface with internal departments & customers to develop solutions for EMI, safety and system integration.
  • Develop design and simulation tools and other predictive methods to expedite development work
  • Participate as an active part of the design & application team to meet sales, product management and field application engineering challenges.
  • Conduct testing, qualification, and de-bugging of AC/DC power supplies.
  • Build prototypes / modified power sources per customer requirements for preproduction testing.
  • Generate and analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Publish App Notes to publicly demonstrate deep domain expertise


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Location: Wilmington, MA: Must be able to travel occasionally domestically and internationally as required
  • Environment: Works in a fast-paced power development lab and standard office environment


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be obtained
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers
  • Ability to learn and use professional concepts appropriate to engineering, including analytical methods, computer aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design, selecting appropriate components and materials for designs
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
  • Proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools
  • Working knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; consistent demonstrated ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision


EXPERIENCE:

Essential:
  • 2-5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or similar


Desirable:
  • Experience with Mathcad, Cadence, Spice based simulation, and/or View Logic


EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's (BSEE) degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Master's (MSEE) degree preferred


COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $85,000 to $115,000 per year.
