Responsibilities

  • Ensure designs comply with electrical codes and industry standards, including NEC and NFPA.
  • Participate in construction administration, including site visits and client meetings.

B&N Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Electrical design for building projects, including mission critical, infrastructure and central plants, education, industrial facilities, and state and federal buildings with a variety of functions.
  • Perform analysis and design of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency and standby power systems, fire alarm systems, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Prepare electrical load calculations, panel schedules, lighting calculations, equipment sizing and selection, one-line diagrams, short-circuit and voltage-drop calculations, and related design documentation.
  • Develop construction drawings, specifications, and related documentation for design-bid-build and design-build projects.
  • Coordinate with utility service requirements and collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, and project managers to develop coordinated drawings and specifications.
  • Apply applicable electrical and building codes and standards, including NEC, IBC, IECC, NFPA, and related industry guidelines, to project designs.
  • Support construction administration activities, including initial field investigations, client meetings, coordination reviews, and site visits.
  • Depending on experience level, independently complete portions of electrical design work, coordinate with other disciplines, assist with mentoring junior staff, and contribute to drafting and quality-control practices.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
  • EIT certification is preferred.
  • Strong day-to-day computer skills are required, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Industry software experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam
  • Experience with electrical design and analysis software is preferred, including lighting calculation tools such as AGi32, Visual, or similar programs, and power system analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet-based electrical calculations, equipment schedules, panel schedules, and project documentation tools is preferred.
