JOB DESCRIPTIONSummary/ObjectiveWe are seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer who wants to make a meaningful impact designing robust, rugged electronic systems for military applications. This role is ideal for a creative, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, designing, prototyping, and testing unique products in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment. This role involves full-lifecycle electrical design, validation, documentation, and system integration.

- Design and develop electronic circuits, power systems, and board-level hardware for ruggedized devices.
- Create detailed schematics, PCB layouts, and supporting documentation.
- Perform electrical analyses including power budgeting, signal integrity, EMI/EMC evaluation, and thermal considerations.
- Oversee prototype manufacturing, perform board bring-up, and execute validation testing.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as schematics, BOMs, test procedures, and validation reports.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot issues related to power, signal integrity, environmental performance, or manufacturability.
- Support compliance testing, including MIL-STD, EMI/EMC, environmental qualification, and other relevant standards.
- Interface with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and internal stakeholders to optimize design quality and production efficiency.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities but requires strong collaboration across engineering, manufacturing and business development teams.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work- This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- BDATech observes a 9/80 schedule, providing employees with every other Friday off.
- This position is 100% on-site to encourage continuous team communication and collaboration.
TravelThis position may require up to 10% travel.
Required Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; master's degree a plus.
- 3 years of experience in electronics design (defense, rugged electronics, aerospace, or similar preferred).
- Strong proficiency in circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, Intercept).
- Experience with power electronics, battery systems, DC/DC converters, or embedded hardware is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC best practices, signal integrity principles, and environmental/ruggedization design considerations.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD standards and compliance testing procedures preferred.
- Comfortable with hands-on prototyping, soldering, testing, and lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
- Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- The strongest candidates will be self-motivated problem solvers who bring ideas forward, communicate clearly, and take ownership from concept through customer fielding.
