Overview

This role blends strong electrical design engineering with design deliverable leadership and higher level of accountability in a large design build inception to completion environment. The Electrical Engineer will support conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design for CANDU and other nuclear power plant systems while also providing field execution support during construction, commissioning, and closeout phases.

Your role

  • Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and contribute to conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activities.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables: drawings (GAs, DDs, EDs), calculations, reports, design manuals, specifications, BOMs.
  • Coordinate with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Prepare EQRs, provide procurement technical support, and interface with vendors.
  • Collaborate, mentor, and review the work of junior/assistant engineers and designers.
  • Conduct field walkdowns; prepare reports; lead or support field changes, commissioning, AFS, and closeout activities.
  • Manage assigned scopes within budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Provide prompt technical resolutions for engineering issues.


About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; P.Eng in Ontario.
  • Experience in previous large and mega design-build projects.
  • 6+ years' experience in electrical engineering and nuclear industry power systems.
  • Experience with ETAP or similar modelling software is preferred.
  • Site experience in construction or commissioning (asset).
  • Strong knowledge of CANDU electrical systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MV/LV distribution, SLDs, diagrams, load lists, transformer/cable/breaker sizing.
  • Ability to lead teams and coordinate multidisciplinary work.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills.
