Electrical/Electronics Engineer III (Maritime Navigation Systems)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Summary: SOLVERE is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead technical teams in the design, development, and manufacturing of tactical navigation systems for surface and submarine platforms. This role combines senior-level electrical engineering expertise with the responsibilities of a Task Manager, including the management of personnel and the planning, scheduling, and performance of contracted tasks. The manager oversees the development of specialized electronic equipment and military-grade interface circuits while providing mentorship and fostering team spirit.

Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead tactical system design, overseeing the development of navigation sensors and commercial-to-military interface circuits for maritime platforms.
  • Direct requirements and power systems, formulating performance requirements for complex electrical systems and leading power distribution architecture and load balancing.
  • Oversee circuit and embedded systems, managing the design of high-precision circuit boards and integrated embedded microprocessor systems.
  • Manage cable plant and compliance, overseeing the development of comprehensive cable plant designs and ensuring systems meet EMI best practices and MIL-STD qualification requirements.
  • Perform thermal management and integration, directing heat loading analysis and examining Interface Control Documents (ICD) to integrate new hardware into ship architectures.
  • Manage CAD documentation and materials, overseeing the development of end-to-end system engineering drawings and the selection of appropriate Mil-Spec and COTS materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, logisticians, and technicians to ensure product deadlines and workmanship standards are met.
  • Manage, motivate, and instruct employees throughout the entire employment lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training/development, performance management, promotion, discipline, and termination.
  • Provide mentorship for and assessment of personnel, including using business and management principles to make improvements or take corrective action where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, department personnel, and other company staff for the completion of both contractual and SOLVERE administrative purposes.
  • Manage assigned task schedules and budgets in accordance with applicable contract/delivery orders and the SOLVERE Quality Management System (QMS).

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional service in electrical engineering is required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in task management or technical leadership is required.
  • Fulfills the Key Personnel LCAT: ENGINEER, ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS III .

As a requirement of employment, all SOLVERE employees must hold U.S. Citizenship.

Location: Virginia Beach, VA (JEBLCFS) / Norfolk, VA

Travel:
  • Required in support of dockside and at-sea system grooms, site surveys, and NAVCERT events. Estimated quarterly.

Clearance:
  • Top Secret (TS/SCI access required)
