Full Job Description
Position Summary

At the Westborough, MA Design Center , our Product Development teams provide solutions to our customers through the design and development of AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies and Digital Panel Meters (DPMs). In this role, you will be:
  • Responsible for the design and development of leading edge power conversion products with a focus on utilizing new technology, reliability, new product viability, lowest cost, and raising the bar on power density and efficiency.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Propose circuit topology, perform loss budget, evaluate performance targets, estimate product cost from a given product spec or market requirement document.
  • Ability to perform design simulations and analysis utilizing simulation software.
  • Supports various sustaining engineering activities to resolve production related issues.
  • Write engineering requirements documents, test plans, validation reports.
  • Design of circuits (power, control, supervisory, regulatory), select components, create schematic and necessary documents to facilitate CAD layout.
  • Reviews PCB layouts & other design documents prior to their releases for procurement or production.
  • Test and debug prototypes to ensure the design meets all required specifications.
  • Support product qualifications to ensure design integrity. Implement corrective actions to close all issues found.
  • Prepare documentation deliverables for pre-release and final production release.
  • Prepare ECOs and TCOs to implement design changes.
  • Responsible that all product designs meet their intended design specifications and complies with all appropriate engineering guidelines and requirements.
  • Support the design and development of new DC/DC converters and analog circuits based on product specification and/ or marketing requirements under limited guidance/supervision.
  • Support the resolution of challenging technical hurdles with various circuitry and/or methods.


Experience Required

  • BSEE with 2 years or MSEE with experience in a coop or intern capacity in power electronics with lab/bench work preferred.
  • Knowledge in SW simulation tools such as PSPICE, Simplis, etc. Hands-on experience in using these tools for circuit designs is a plus.
  • Experienced in M.S. Office Suite. PADS or Altium SW a plus.
  • Some experience or familiarity in high frequency high-density switching power supply design including circuit topologies, control theories, loop compensation, magnetics design, EMI/RFI, supervisory functions, and PCB layout.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced engineering environment.
  • Must be flexible, pro-active, and willing to dedicate the necessary efforts when needed to meet team objectives.
  • Potential to develop competency in resolving technical issues with innovative circuitry and/or methods.
  • Knowledge of or experiences in high-frequency high-density switching power supply design including circuit topologies, control theories, loop compensation and magnetics design. Exposure to EMI/RFI, supervisory functions and PCB layout is highly desirable.
  • Has a basic understanding of several power conversion topologies and methodologies; Flyback, Resonant, LLC, Buck, ZVS, Synchronous, Current-mode-control, etc.
  • Demonstrates analytical/problem solving skills and ability to guide critical decisions.

This position is an on-site role, with 1 flex day per week of remote work.

Compensation Data

The salary range for this role is $90,000/year - $98,000/year.

The salary range listed is based on market data and internal benchmarks. Actual compensation may vary depending on a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
