Siemens Electrification and Automation is seeking an experienced HV Protection & Automation Panel Design Engineer to design, develop, and manufacture sophisticated power protection and automation panels for substation systems and applications, integrating Siemens and other automation products for our customers.

This Experienced Electrical Design Engineer - HV Protection & Control Panels position is based in Wendell, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. Relocation assistance may be available if eligible.
You'll make a difference by:
- Designing Electrical, Mechanical and System Drawings of Protection and Control Panels in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
- Developing logic diagrams and protection schemes based on technical drawings and further customer specifications.
- Preparing (FAT & SAT) Factory & Site Acceptance Test procedures for protection systems projects.
- Collaborating with a team of specialists to develop electrical systems that meet industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Being a technical leader in projects or lead other team members in project activities.
- Serving as one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support.
- Providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases, and occasional technical support to the sales team with the development of project scope of work, sales estimates, and proposals.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering.
- Five (5) or more years of direct experience in electrical design in the power systems protection and control engineering field, including experience in high-voltage (HV) utilities protection and/or HV utilities automation
- Experience leading technical engineering activities for electrical panel design projects.
- Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems.
- Experience producing technical documentation for Protection and Control systems for Substations such as Logic Diagrams, Sequences of Operations, FDS, and test procedures.
- Proven knowledge of transmission and distribution protection relays; capable of designing and specifying them; capable of approving and supervising the designs of other engineers.
- Advanced knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, and others relay/automation products and associated software.
- Experience with communication network technologies, including design and hardware configuration, and communication protocols experience such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, PROFINET, PROFIBUS.
- Knowledge of ANSI standards related to protection and electrical panel design.
- Automation or Protection commissioning experience.
- Factory or Site acceptance testing experience in protection and automation systems
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or AUCOTEC Engineering Base Software.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Visio tools.
- Willingness and availability for about 5% travel, depending on project assignments and requirements.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of protection and automation of electrical systems.
- Proven knowledge of UL 508A requirements for protection and automation control panels.
- Applied knowledge of Medium and High Voltage Protection, including medium voltage protection schemes (including design of transfer schemes and reverse interlocking schemes), and generator protection, and line differential and distance protection.
- Experience in designing Protection and Automation Panels for utilities.
- Professional Engineer license (PE).
- C programming language experience.
- Experience working with Engineering Base (EB) Software-AUCOTEC and the Global Engineering Library (GEL) database for design.
- Experience with MicroStation software.
- Experience with EPLAN.
- Knowledge of IEC standards related to protection and electrical panel design.
- Advanced knowledge and skill level with Microsoft Office.

The pay range for this position is $74,970 - $128,520 annually with a target incentive of 5 of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
