The Electrical Construction Inspection role performs complex electrical inspection technical support tasks, completing assignments with little to no assistance. The role verifies and ensures all electrical systems and components are installed, tested, and functioning in compliance with the National Electric Code, project technical documents (specifications and drawings) and all industry and local codes/standards to confirm safety, reliability, and performance. The role completes a range of tasks with considerable latitude for independent judgement, making decisions within a fixed scope of responsibility.
Responsibilities - Perform complex electrical inspection technical support tasks including checks, inspections and troubleshooting electrical systems, with limited assistance or supervision.
- Commission systems and perform witness testing, ensuring all electrical systems comply with the necessary standards and regulations.
- Contribute to change management, proposing improvements, and facilitating implementation.
- Administer strict quality control and assurance protocols, ensuring all tasks meet the established standards.
- Ensure adherence to the National Electric Code, project technical documents (specifications and drawings) and industry and local codes and standards.
- Calibrate equipment, perform loop checks, and maintain punch lists.
- Assist in identifying potential electrical hazards and code violations during inspections.
- Inspect the quality of workmanship and materials used in electrical installations.
- Keep records of inspections, defaults, deviations and non-conformities.
- Assist electrical contractor in interpreting and applying electrical codes, ordinances and laws.
- Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Mentorship - May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Skills and Competencies - In-depth knowledge of electrical systems and components, and testing and inspection protocols.
- Thorough understanding of the National Electric Code and industry and local codes and standards and their practical application.
- Proficient in troubleshooting more complex electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to utilize project management/document management software to retrieve, view, and update details concerning technical documents and inspection results.
Experience - Typically, a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in electrical inspection is required.
Education - A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
- Currently holds or has ability to obtain an Electrical Inspector Certification/License as required per state requirements.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
$71,000 - $96,000
