Full Job Description
The Estimator II supports commercial and industrial electrical estimating and preconstruction activities under a level of direction appropriate to experience and demonstrated capability. Responsibilities include document review, quantity takeoff, estimate development, labor and material analysis, vendor and subcontractor coordination, scope clarification, estimate documentation, and proposal preparation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Independently completes takeoffs and estimate development for defined scopes or moderately complex projects with periodic review.
  2. Analyzes plans, specifications, schedules, and bid requirements; develops pricing and documents assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, and scope gaps.
  3. Coordinates vendor and subcontractor requests, reviews quotations for completeness, and supports labor, productivity, and procurement analysis.
  4. Participates in estimate kickoff, review, and close activities and assists less-experienced estimators with defined tasks.
  5. with or lead development of complete, accurate, and competitive responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), based on assigned level and project complexity.
  6. Review plans, specifications, addenda, schedules, bid forms, codes, standards, and related documents to define scope and bid requirements.
  7. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from construction documents using Bluebeam and ConEst or comparable estimating software.
  8. Develop and review labor, material, equipment, subcontract, and indirect-cost inputs using company estimating standards and current market information.
  9. Apply labor units, crew assumptions, productivity factors, phasing considerations, and means-and-methods knowledge appropriate to the assigned scope.
  10. Identify document conflicts, omissions, scope gaps, constructability concerns, and commercial risks; communicate findings and support timely clarification.
  11. Prepare and issue requests for quotation to qualified suppliers and subcontractors; review and level responses for scope, exclusions, compliance, and completeness.
  12. Prepare conceptual estimates, budgets, unit pricing, alternates, allowances, and detailed change-order pricing as assigned.
  13. Document estimate assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, inclusions, and proposal qualifications.
  14. Participate in site visits and job walks to assess access, logistics, existing conditions, phasing, and other factors that may affect cost or execution.
  15. Participate in estimate kickoff, progress review, risk review, and bid close meetings; provide clear status updates for assigned work.
  16. Perform self-checks and peer reviews and incorporate review comments before estimate close.
  17. Prepare and maintain complete bid folders, estimate records, quotation logs, recapitulations, and supporting documentation.
  18. Collaborate professionally with estimating, operations, clients, engineers, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  19. Protect confidential project and pricing information and follow company standards for document control and data handling.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Working knowledge of commercial and industrial construction; electrical systems knowledge appropriate to the assigned estimator level.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, bid documents, technical standards, and contract requirements. Proficiency with Bluebeam for quantity takeoffs and ConEst or comparable assembly-based estimating software, appropriate to assigned level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Understanding of labor units, crew composition, productivity factors, material pricing, vendor quotations, and subcontractor scope, appropriate to assigned level.
  • Ability to organize quantities, pricing, labor, quotation information, scope narratives, and supporting documentation into a complete estimate.
  • Ability to identify scope gaps, reconcile conflicting information, document assumptions, and communicate questions clearly.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, organization, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply arithmetic, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, unit conversions, area, volume, labor extensions, and cost comparisons to estimating work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
  • Initiative, sound judgment, collaboration, adaptability, and practical problem-solving skills

Relevant certifications or training may include:
  • American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) certification or estimating education.
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or equivalent construction-safety training.
  • Electrical apprenticeship, journey-level credential, or recognized field-leadership training.
  • Relevant project management, construction management, scheduling, or manufacturer training.
  • Other discipline-specific credentials applicable to assigned commercial or industrial work.

Benefits

Salary range for this position is $95,000-$125,000 annually.
