Full Job Description
ANA is headquartered in Henderson, Nevada, with locations in Cypress, California and Spartanburg, South Carolina. ANA is growing and scaling, and we are seeking an Electrical Compliance Engineer in an onsite position in Henderson, Nevada.
As an Electrical Compliance Engineer, you will work in our engineering team. In this role, you will lead the compliance and certification efforts for our industrial Hybrid Energy Systems, while actively assisting in the electrical and system design for our next-generation hybrid power generation systems. You will bridge the gap between cutting-edge electrical engineering and stringent regulatory frameworks. You will ensure that our products-from custom high-voltage battery packs to hybrid power systems-are physically tested, validated, and architected for compliance from day one.

The position is fully onsite, and the work schedule is weekdays from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. This role reports to the Electrical Systems Engineer.

Role & Responsibilities:

ESS Regulatory & Certification Management:
  • Own the end-to-end compliance lifecycle for all ESS products, driving certification projects from physical prototype validation through to final listing.
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical escort and point of contact for Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) such as UL, Intertek, or CSA during open compliance projects and follow-up services.
  • Author compliance test plans, construction files, and technical documentation required for regulatory submittals.
  • Collaborate on the hardware verification of BMS, System software/controllers, telematics, etc. to meet Functional Safety and EMC requirements.

On-site Pre-Compliance Testing & Validation:
  • Set up, configure, and execute in-house pre-compliance testing protocols within the R&D lab, including dielectric withstand (hipot), insulation resistance, thermal profiling, and fault simulation.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and manage lab instrumentation and safety equipment dedicated to compliance testing.
  • Witness and document live testing phases, ensuring physical configurations strictly mirror technical submittal files.

R&D Electrical Design:
  • Partner directly with the Electrical Systems Engineer for hybrid power generation system design, wiring topologies, and component selections (inverters, DC/DC's, wire harnesses) to ensure compliance with electrical safety standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the evolving regulatory standards for Hybrid Energy and Energy Storage Systems.
  • Analyze high-voltage and low-voltage distribution paths on physical prototypes, ensuring proper grounding architecture, overcurrent protection, and critical spacings are being met.

Standards Expertise:
  • Interpret and apply critical ESS standards to active designs, including:
    • UL 9540 (Energy Storage Systems and Equipment) and UL 9540A (Thermal Runaway Fire Propagation Testing).
    • UL 1973 (Batteries for Use in Stationary Applications).
    • UN / DoT Transportation Guidelines for Shipping of Lithium-Ion Batteries and Hazardous materials.
    • NFPA 855 (Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage Systems).
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Experience & Education:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in an electrical product development or laboratory environment, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance for energy storage systems, hybrid power systems, or industrial grid-tied equipment.

Technical Competencies:
  • Deep, practical understanding of UL 9540, UL 1973, UN 38.3, and the National Electrical Code (NEC/NFPA 70/NFPA 855).
  • Experience with inverters and high-voltage battery chemistries.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849 or IEC 61508) as applied to BMS firmware and hardware fault tolerance.
  • Experience with Regulatory Compliance Project workflow.
  • Ability to read complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and component datasheets.
