We are seeking a detail-oriented Altium CAD Administrator and Librarian to manage our Altium Enterprise Server infrastructure and component library systems. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and efficiency of our electronic design data and component management processes across multiple platforms and systems. WHAT YOU'LL DO Altium Enterprise Server Management • Administer and maintain Altium Enterprise Server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability • Configure user access rights, permissions, and role-based security protocols • Manage server backups, disaster recovery procedures, and system updates • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues • Coordinate with IT department on server hardware, network, and security requirements Component Library Management • Develop, maintain, and optimize the central component library database • Create and enforce component library standards and naming conventions • Audit existing components for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards • Review and approve new component requests from engineering teams • Ensure component data integrity including symbols, footprints, 3D models, and parametric data • Manage component lifecycle including obsolescence tracking and alternative part recommendations Database Administration • Design and maintain database structures for component and design data management • Configure and optimize database links between Altium and external data sources (PLM, ERP, supplier databases) • Create and maintain automated data synchronization processes • Develop database queries and reports for component usage analysis and library metrics • Troubleshoot database connectivity and data integrity issues Cross-Platform CAD Integration • Establish and maintain database connections to support multiple electrical CAD tools (OrCAD, PADS, KiCAD, etc.) • Develop and implement strategies for multi-CAD library synchronization and data consistency • Create translation workflows to convert library data between different CAD formats • Build and maintain API integrations with external systems and databases • Ensure component data structures remain tool-agnostic where possible to support cross-platform usage • Develop scripts and automation tools for batch library conversions and exports • Manage CAD-agnostic component databases that can serve multiple design environments Enterprise System Integration • Interface with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems for component approval workflows • Establish bidirectional data exchange with ERP systems for cost, availability, and procurement data • Connect to supplier databases and component aggregators (Octopart, SiliconExpert, Z2Data, etc.) • Integrate with lifecycle management tools for obsolescence monitoring and compliance tracking • Link to document management systems for datasheets, certifications, and technical documentation • Support MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) integration for BOM validation and costing Documentation and Training • Create and maintain documentation for library standards, processes, and procedures • Develop training materials and conduct user training sessions on library usage and best practices • Provide technical support to engineering teams on Altium Enterprise Server and library-related issues • Document integration workflows and system dependencies for cross-platform environments REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Altium Experience: 5+ years working with Altium Designer and 3+ Altium Enterprise Server (or similar vault/PDM systems) • Multi-CAD Environment: Experience working with multiple electrical CAD platforms and their library structures • Database Expertise: Deep understanding of relational database structures (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle) • Database Integration: Proven experience working with database links, ODBC/JDBC connections, and data synchronization • Component Libraries: Strong knowledge of electronic component library structures, including symbols, footprints, and parametric data across different CAD systems • SQL Proficiency: Ability to write complex SQL queries for data manipulation and reporting • Technical Documentation: Excellent documentation skills with attention to detail • API Integration: Experience working with REST APIs, web services, and data interchange formats (JSON, XML) Technical Skills • Server administration experience (Windows/Linux environments) • Understanding of PLM/ERP systems and their integration with design tools • Knowledge of IPC standards and PCB design best practices • Familiarity with version control concepts and implementation • Experience with data mapping and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes • Understanding of CAD data formats and file structures (SchLib, PcbLib, STEP, IPC-2581, etc.) • Knowledge of industry standard component databases and their APIs (Digi-Key, Mouser, Octopart, SiliconExpert) • Experience with middleware or integration platforms is a plus Cross-Platform Competencies • Familiarity with multiple CAD library formats and their conversion requirements • Understanding of tool-specific limitations and capabilities in library management • Experience with neutral file formats for CAD data exchange • Ability to related field • Electronics industry experience and understanding of component specifications • Hands-on experience with other CAD tools (OrCAD, PADS, Eagle, KiCAD, or similar) • Experience with component supplier databases and aggregator APIs • Knowledge of compliance requirements (RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals) • Experience with IPC-2581, ODB++, or other neutral CAD data formats • Certification in database administration or server management • Previous experience in a librarian or data management role • Experience with PLM systems (Arena, Windchill, Teamcenter, Aras, etc.) • Understanding of microservices architecture and system integration patterns • Scripting capabilities (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for automation tasks and data transformation US Salary Range $129,000-$171,000 USD The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
