Job Summary

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Automation Engineer to help design and deploy advanced robotic automation systems across Chromalloy's global manufacturing network. In this role, you'll partner with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to develop scalable automation solutions that improve safety, quality, productivity, and process consistency in aerospace manufacturing and repair operations.

Schedule: On-site

Travel: Up to 25% travel may be required to support automation deployments across Chromalloy facilities.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Design and develop electrical systems for robotic and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, bills of material, and installation documentation.
  • Design power distribution systems, motor controls, safety circuits, industrial networks, and controls architectures.
  • Specify automation components including motors, drives, sensors, vision systems, HMIs, safety devices, and communications hardware.
  • Partner with mechanical, controls, automation, and manufacturing engineers to develop integrated automation solutions.
  • Support integration of industrial robots, tooling, sensors, and peripheral equipment into automated work cells.
  • Assist with PLC, HMI, networking, validation, and system troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, and engineering standards.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and deployment of automation systems.
  • Develop and maintain standardized electrical design practices that can be leveraged across Chromalloy's global operations


What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing industrial automation systems within a manufacturing or lab environment.
  • Experience supporting automation projects from concept development through commissioning.
  • Experience designing electrical panels, control systems, and industrial automation architectures.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of industrial controls, motor controls, servo systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial networking, and machine safety systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, Omron, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, and OPC-UA.
  • Ability to read, develop, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Nice to Have
  • Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing, repair, or MRO operations.
  • Experience automating welding, machining, coating, inspection, finishing, or other industrial manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience integrating industrial robots such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, or Universal Robots.
  • Experience with machine vision systems, industrial cameras, and inspection technologies.
  • Understanding of robotic programming and offline simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL508A, ISO 10218, RIA standards, and machine safety requirements.
  • Experience supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives, manufacturing data collection, MES integration, or connected factory technologies.


This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
