Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

E&A Engineer is responsible for all maintenance and projects activities in area of responsibility according to Nestle corporate strategies, standards and specifications, related to:
  • Electrical & Process Control
  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Automation and IT
  • Plant personnel development and training
  • Environment and operational safety for all areas above


Will be required to perform all job requirements and meet all qualifications as determined by management for an Electrical and Automation engineer, but works independently to perform installation, monitoring, maintenance, repair, and/or design modification of high-tech distributed manufacturing and industrial process control systems for the Fremont Plant. This entails optimizing system designs, maintenance and operations processes; satisfying all safety concerns; building capability of skilled trades, and participating in short and long range planning perspective with respect to instrumentation, automation, controls, and equipment.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Support
  • Attend system training with the intent of becoming a Fremont Site subject matter expert.
  • Support the production lines and the training of peers.
  • Provide hardware and software application support assistance to operations.


Projects
  • Manage/Participate in the development of project scopes, design and standards of systems, and functional specifications.
  • Manage/Participate in the execution of projects including concept development, credit submission, bidding process, contractor management, procurement, installation and commissioning.
  • Perform system start-ups, qualification and handover.


Maintenance
  • Develop/optimize the PM plan, supervise the execution of Planned Maintenance activities.
  • Specify, organize and maintain adequate spare parts for control and instrumentation systems.
  • Maintain updated key documentation and drawings of the Network Infrastructure, Electrical System & Process Control, instrument calibration, PIDs for the areas of responsibilities, in accordance with management of change procedures.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, repair, and maintenance of the site wide instrumentation, automation control, MES and electrical systems to attain "World Class" performance.


Improvements
  • Serve as an overall technical resource for several production areas.
  • Lead skilled tradesmen and participate in maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot production equipment and improve the line performance & reliability.
  • Provide technical coaching, development, and training to electrical/control technicians, instrument technicians and other personnel by creating training documents, developing training plans, and facilitating classroom and hands-on training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
  • Support and participate in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) within the Business Unit.
  • Follow Fremont Factory safety & environmental objectives & targets, follow plant safety rules, report unsafe conditions immediately, report incidents immediately or by end of shift, maintain compliance with regulations, and follow Safety & Environmental Management System procedures and programs.


Supervision Received
  • Overall MES-E & A strategy and direction for planning and implementation in factory according to NN/CO-Eng Standards (from Corporate MES-E&A Engineer).
  • Detailed procedures and directions for implementation of related initiatives.
  • Clear communication on targets and objectives and monitoring of progress.


Supervision Given
  • Monitor progress and provide guidance in the area of electricity and automation for successful implementation of capital projects and maintenance activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to meet engineering targets and objectives.


Financial/Strategic Impact
  • Could affect quality of finished goods, production schedule, equipment damage and loss of material.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of electrical and automation engineering experience required


Preferred
  • Factory Automation & Industrial Electrical systems in the pharmaceutical or food industry
  • Knowledgeable in electricity, instrumentation, MES (Manufacturing Execution System)
  • Specialized in process control (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Network, IT, etc.)
  • Extensive experience in AB Control Logix, AVEVA System Platform, HMI/SCADA applications, Siemens control system, Electrical and electronic circuits (480V and below)
  • Experience in industrial FANUC Robot technology, Servo and motion controls


Skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and networking skills
  • Good organizational/administrative skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project
  • SAP knowledge desirable
  • Process qualification and validation in the pharmaceutical or food industry (IQ, OQ, PQ)
  • Strong project management skills
