The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards while promoting a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship. This role supports workplace safety through hazard identification, incident investigation, regulatory compliance, and employee training. The position collaborates with internal teams and regulatory agencies to evaluate environmental and safety risks, implement corrective actions, and support audits and reporting requirements.

Shift: Monday - Friday - 1st shift/Business Hours

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
  • Develop, administer, and implement environmental health and safety (EHS) programs in accordance with governmental and company requirements. These programs include, but are not limited to: Ergonomics, Incident Investigation and Reporting, Worker's Compensation, Control of Hazardous Energy, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, Hot Work, Job Safety Analysis, Powered Industrial Trucks, Compressed Gases, Industrial Hygiene, Hazardous Waste, and Management of Change.
  • Review and analyze documentation issued by regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies to determine corrective action plans.
  • Conduct studies and prepare environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permit changes.
  • Evaluate proposed regulations to determine financial and industrial impact.
  • Interact with regulatory bodies to resolve compliance issues and assist in regulatory audits.
  • Identify and take corrective action against activities that pose potential threats to workers' health or safety, which may include recommending organizational measures to protect workers' safety through revised methods, processes, or materials; inspecting workplace environments, equipment, and/or practices to ensure compliance with standards and regulations; and investigating and/or identifying causes regarding filed incidents.
  • Provide/promote employee awareness/training on matters of environmental health and safety.
  • Conduct EHS reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications, and new equipment/machinery installations.
  • Facilitate EHS reviews for product transfer to/from other facilities.
  • Develop and drive programs and policies to improve safety, culture and risk reduction.
  • Partner with Facilities on environmental sustainability initiatives and applicable data management.

-High School Diploma (or equivalent) AND 6+ years experience

OR

-Associate's Degree AND 4+ years experience

OR

-Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: EHS management systems and risk assessment; medical device manufacturing.
  • Credentials: Professional certification (or certification-eligible) such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM.
  • Collaboration and work style: Ability to partner with diverse teams, drive employee engagement, and work independently as a self-starter.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. a7 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$76,000.00 - $114,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).
