Job Summary

Leads the development and implementation of programs and strategies in building a sustainable culture of safety and health across business units. This role in partnership with the corporate safety leadership and business unit stakeholders will provide proactive measures to minimize occupational risk enhance team member healthy and well being through safe work practices and ensure safety and health related regulatory compliance and accountability.

Job Responsibilities
  • Implements Company safety strategy and programs, including hazard assessments, compliance auditing, training and education to promote a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Utilizes compliance audits, gap analysis, and trend data to recommend and implement continuous safety improvement.
  • Directly manages relationships with regulatory agencies including managing agency inspections and audits, reporting requirements, and responding to citations.
  • Provides safety incident management utilizing data system including accident investigation, corrective actions, safety program development, trends and scorecard reporting.
  • Serves as a partner and safety expert collaborate with business unit teams responsible for safety compliance in their designated area to identify opportunities for improvement and best practice sharing across the enterprise. Provides support, program resources and statistical reports to facilitate safe work environments and team member safety awareness.
  • Works with safety leadership to develop of a comprehensive best in class safety culture at the Company.
  • Monitors and facilitates regulatory compliance requirements, including OSHA, and other federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Develops and reviews key performance indicators (KPIs) and other key safety metrics and scorecards to assess safety performance for the overall Company and individual business units.


External Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in safety management OR a High School diploma/GED and at least 8 years of experience in safety management.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and programs, such as OSHA, IIPP, Haz Com, training methods, etc.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading change management and cross-functional teams.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing and implementing OSHA standards and regulations in a business or retail environment.
  • Experience presenting information and ideas to all level of an organization including executives.
  • Experience analyzing / reporting data and identifying areas of opportunity to drive improvement of results.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
  • Master's degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
  • Professional certifications ASP, CSP and/or COHN-SM.
