Full Job Description
Position Summary

The EH&S Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) management systems across North American chemical facilities. This role supports risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in safety performance. The EHSS Manager is empowered to establish priorities, engage internal and external resources, and deploy systems, tools, and standards that enhance site-level performance. The position also coordinates internal, third-party, and self-assessments, and develops and reports EHSS performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead implementation and oversight of corporate EHSS programs, including personnel safety, injury prevention, life-critical permits, and safety committees.
  • Manage OSHA injury and illness reporting, incident and near miss investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Provide working knowledge and oversight of applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory programs.
  • Maintain EHSS audit programs and support Responsible Care® management system, including chemical security requirements.
  • Collaborate with sites and business units to implement effective safety and compliance solutions.
  • Evaluate EHSS impacts of capital and operational projects and ensure appropriate risk assessments, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Management of Change (MOC) Prestart-up Safety Review (PSSR) are conducted,
  • Develop, monitor, analyze, and report EHSS key performance indicators.
  • Uphold corporate principles, including the Nicholson Nine, Responsible Care®, Responsible Distribution®, Balmert PVS safety Leadership, and Process Improvement Institute (PII) principles.
  • Manage EHSS data and enterprise systems.
  • Risk Response Matrix - Support of business units and ownership of High Severity events, SIF and pSIF injuries.
  • Oversight of Chemtrec service, PVS Chemtrec response team, qualified national emergency and environmental contractors list.
  • Maintain an effective Site Assessment program
  • Maintain enterprise-wide file structure and access for all regulatory submissions.

Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead EHSS programs and drive employee accountability.
  • Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program requirements.
  • Knowledge of chemical security and emergency response frameworks.
  • Strong leadership, training, and coaching skills with the ability to influence EHSS culture.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel more than 50 percent of the time.
  • Position based near a PVS Midwest facility.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience in EHSS, operations, auditing, training, and incident investigation within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • PSM and RMP facility experience, including PHA leadership.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Hazardous Materials Manager *CHMM), Certified Environmental Professional CEP, Safety Management Specialist SMS).
  • Familiarity with EHSS management systems (ACC RCMS®, NACD Responsible Distribution®, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
  • Experience with EHSS management software (e.g., Dakota Software ProActivity® VelocityEHS, Sphera, or similar).
  • Incident command and emergency response experience.
