Job Title
EHS Manager - RDCs

Position Overview

Lead and support the Safety, Health and Environmental functions for Shaw Floors' Regional Distribution Centers (RDCs) across the United States

Shaw's RDCs are involved with receiving, storing, order processing and shipping/delivering floor covering and related materials to customers in their designated service areas.

They are staffed by one or multiple salaried leaders and Class A/CDL truck drivers, warehouse associates, and office staff. Most locations work multiple shifts daily.

  • This role is a collaborative effort with RDC leadership/management and other stakeholders at both the plant/local and corporate levels.


  • Job is based in Dalton, GA.


  • Job requires regular business travel. Estimate 1-2 trips monthly on average.


Essential Duties:

  • Partner with RDC leadership and other stakeholders to cultivate and foster a proactive safety culture.


  • Employ a "hands on" approach. Establish an open and effective level of engagement with RDC associates.


  • Ensure that all locations comply with OSHA, FMCSA, DOT and any other applicable federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations, plus all Shaw policies, procedures and best practices.


  • Collaborate with RDC facility management in development and implementation of all applicable plant specific and widely shared/universal EHS elements.


  • Facilitate and/or conduct internal audit processes to monitor conformance to EHS requirements and to drive continuous improvement.


  • Serve as the liaison between facility management and Corporate Risk Management.


  • Coordinate and lead Incident Investigations related to associate injuries, near misses, accidents/incidents, property damage, security, etc. Ensure the completion of all action items related to investigations with the facility management team.


  • Utilize Shaw's EHS "toolbox" and Risk Management IS systems to promote an effective safety culture and behaviors. Ensure RDC leaders and associates understand and utilize these resources fully as well.


  • Apply metrics/data as needed for analysis to identify and address improvement and performance opportunities.


  • Coordinate SARA reporting for the eastern US RDC facilities.


  • Assist RDCs with Stormwater management, permitting and sampling as necessary.


Non-Essential Duties:

  • Perform other related and applicable duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, reach above one's head, and occasionally lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds.


  • Must be able to work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day.


  • Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.


  • Must be able to drive an automobile.


Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years EHS experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.


  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workload, manage competing priorities, and successfully multitask


  • Capable of working with and taking direction from multiple management associates. .


  • Must have knowledge of or capability to become proficient in all standard Google and Microsoft applications.


  • Must be able to work off shifts as necessary.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.


Preferred:
  • Experience with Transportation Safety, FMCSA, DOT, Smith System Defensive Driving preferred.
  • 4 year degree
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish)
