Responsibilities

  • Complete and file comprehensive regulatory reports including OSHA logs and hazardous waste documentation.
  • Develop and maintain EHS regulatory programs, policies, and procedures for compliance.
  • Recommend compliance procedures for hazardous material transportation and other regulatory standards.
  • Design and deliver health and safety training tailored to specific tasks.
  • Conduct internal EHS compliance audits across various locations.
  • Perform chemical and process hazard assessments to identify necessary controls and protective equipment.
  • Advise on compliance with DOT motor carrier regulations and requirements.
  • Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Responsible for all aspects of environmental, health and safety, training, regulatory reporting, permitting, development and maintenance of regulatory programs, plans, policies and procedures, industrial hygiene, transportation of hazardous materials, employee training and development.

How you will spend your time:

1. Complete and File Regulatory Reporting including but not limited to Sara Title III (Community Right to Know) Tier II, EPA's Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Department of Homeland Security CSAT/CFAT, Hazardous Materials Business Plan, OSHA 300 log, spill response and reporting, hazardous waste reporting, and all applicable reporting requirements associated with 49CFR (DOT), 40CFR (EPA), 29 CFR (OSHA), 21 USC (DEA), Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS), Arizona Department of Occupational, Safety and Health (ADOSH), and applicable County and City Ordinances and Codes.

2. Develop and maintain all applicable internal programs and EHS regulatory programs, policies, and procedures.

3. Recommend procedures which will ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies including but not limited to US Department of Transportation (49 CFR) and International Maritime Dangerous Goods requirements for the transportation of hazardous materials, 40CFR (EPA), 29 CFR (OSHA), 21USC (DEA), Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS), Arizona Department of Occupational, Safety and Health (ADOSH), and applicable County and City Ordinances/Codes.

4. Develop and provide applicable health and safety and task-specific training as needed.

5. Conduct internal EHS compliance audits at all locations.

6. Conduct chemical and process hazard assessments to determine required administrative/engineering controls and personal protective equipment.

7. Recommend procedures which will ensure compliance with DOT Motor Carrier Registration/Commercial Vehicle Requirements.

8. Any duties, responsibilities, and tasks as assigned by the EVP of Corporate Compliance and/or the EVP of Operations.

9. Support Lean manufacturing.

Skills/Abilities to be Successful:
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of direct experience in the field and/or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Extensive knowledge of EHS statutes, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience in developing and providing EHS related employee training.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • High level of diplomacy (people skills) and negotiating skills as the face of Huma to all regulatory visitors/inspectors
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • CSP certification preferred
  • Foreign language is a plus
  • High level of integrity and alignment with HUMA's values
