Full Job Description

The EHS Manager will perform health, safety, and compliance functions as assigned by management, such as site inspections and safety communication. This role will require travel within Ontario. In this role, you will be responsible for completing various administrative duties, including incident reporting and onboarding along with clerical work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of EHS Advisors and field Coordinators
  • Manage employee orientations, onboarding and training requirements
  • Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards
  • Prepare and investigate reports of incidents and injuries
  • Cooperate in the preparation of materials for insurance
  • Weekly/monthly reports on operations hours and incidents to be completed in a timely matter
  • Support WSIB claim reporting, return to work activities and modified work programs
  • Provide information and resources for safety tailgates with staff
  • Work with operational staff to develop, implement and enforce local/regional SOPs
  • Communicate information to employees regarding health and safety policies and procedures
  • Implement and champion EHSMS
  • Participate on Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Provide support and administrative assistance to the health and safety team
  • Assist in compliance and regulatory issues, HOS, DOT random testing, etc.
  • Maintain safety files, employee records and training databases
  • Perform other duties as required


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • College Diploma or University Degree, preferably in health and safety
  • 5-7 years of experience in a Health and Safety or a related role
  • 2-3 years of experience mentoring and managing field level staff
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry safety standards
  • Experience with IHSA COR
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Self-starting proactive individual who can work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to work well under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Travel between 50-75%
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
