Full Job Description
The primary purpose of the EHS Manager is to provide leadership and direction to assure that the site and its employee populations are knowledgeable and compliant in the applicable areas of Environmental, Health, & Safety. This position will champion projects and activities to achieve location and company goals & objectives. The role reports directly to the onsite Plant Manager, with indirect reporting to a Senior Regional EHS Manager. As a part of the extended EHS team, this position will periodically be assigned to corporate initiatives or teams and/or directed to assist other company locations/Organizations with projects (remote or travel to location). Responsibilities • Develop and implement policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, regional, and federal EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) for assigned locations and groups. • Ensure that local policies and procedures for safe work are established, implemented, and followed at assigned work locations. • Lead location/area managers and teams in promoting and practicing safe operating procedures. • Develop and implement procedures for local compliance with corporate incident reporting and investigation programs • Provide EHS technical expertise to local investigation teams, identifying root causes and suggesting corrective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. • Develop, arrange, implement, and conduct EHS training to maintain regulatory compliance for assigned location(s) and or organization(s). • Maintain and execute an EHS compliance calendar for all required regulatory and policy activities. • Serve in a management leadership capacity on EHS-related committees for assigned locations and organizations. • Ensures mandatory regulatory event reporting (such as annual OSHA 300 log, notifications of serious accidents, hospitalizations, or deaths). • Collaborate with site management to develop corrective action plans and set goals for enhancing EHS compliance performance in the upcoming year. • Leads location EHS review meetings with location leadership team, EHS Corporate and other applicable higher management levels. • Conduct annual reviews and audits of assigned locations to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and regulations. Develop corrective action plans as needed. • Serve as the local EHS representative for capital projects, reviewing for uncontrolled hazards, impacts, and permitting requirements. • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • OSHA Compliance - Ensures workplace practices, policies, and environments meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. • Risk Assessment -Identifies potential hazards, assesses risks, and implements preventive measures. • Incident Investigation - Conducts thorough investigations identifies root causes, documents incidents, and implements corrective actions. • Emergency Response - Handles emergencies effectively, including evacuation procedures, first aid, and crisis management. • Safety Training - Trains employees on safety procedures using effective communication and teaching skills. • Industrial Hygiene - Understands industrial hygiene principles, including exposure limits, ventilation, and chemical safety. • Ergonomics - Applies ergonomic principles to prevent workplace injuries related to posture, repetitive motions, and workstation design. • Safety Audits - Conducts regular safety audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with safety standards. • Manage compliance with key environmental regulations, including Title V air permitting, stormwater management, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, hazardous waste handling and documentation, and wastewater discharge requirements. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related Science field is required. Master's Degree in EHS or related Science field is preferred. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, 10 years' experience within EHS function will be considered • Minimum 5 years' experience in EHS function within a Manufacturing setting with direct responsibility for EHS activity and experience with Regulatory Agency interactions (inspections, official written response, arbitration, etc.). Advanced degrees and certifications may count in lieu of years of service • Required 2 or more years' experience of EHS leadership responsibility (organizational and/or direct reports) Preference for applicable EHS professional certifications (ASP, CSP, IHIT, CIH, CHMM, etc.) • Thorough understanding of EHS science; analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication skills (speaking and listening). • Working knowledge of EHS regulation with strong understanding of OSHA and EPA laws • Understanding of Environmental regulations including air permitting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention, Wastewater and Hazardous Waste Management Additional Information Site Address: 1780 Westfork Dr. Lithia Springs GA, 30122
