Full Job Description
The Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) is a strategic leader responsible for developing, standardizing, and scaling the company's EHS vision across a multi-site, geographically distributed operation. This role partners closely with Executive and operational leadership to drive a proactive safety culture, embed accountability, and ensure EHS programs align with organizational growth and operational excellence.

This leader moves beyond compliance administration to shape enterprise-wide safety strategy, influence leadership behaviors, and build a high-performing EHS organization capable of supporting a complex industrial environment.

Pay Rate: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 Annually
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience.

  • Develop and execute a scalable, enterprise-wide EHS strategy that supports business objectives across multiple locations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and operational leadership, providing insight, influence, and strategic guidance on safety and environmental risk.
  • Lead organizational safety initiatives that elevate culture, engagement, and accountability.
  • Drive cultural transformation, embedding safety as a core operating principle aligned with company values.
  • Build strong credibility with operations leadership and the EHS team.
  • Partner with field leadership to ensure EHS programs are practical, sustainable, and integrated into daily operations.
  • Operate effectively within complex heavy equipment and warehouse environments, ensuring relevant and applicable safety practices.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the existing EHS team, focusing on capability development rather than personally owning all tactical execution.
  • Evaluate current team structure and optimize staffing models to support growth, efficiency, and regional needs.
  • Build a high-performing, scalable EHS organization capable of supporting future business expansion.
  • Establish standardized policies, systems, and metrics that allow for consistency and scalability across all operating locations.
  • Ensure alignment of EHS programs with regulatory requirements while focusing on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Implement data-driven insights to measure performance, identify trends, and drive proactive risk mitigation.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement in EHS processes, tools, and systems.
  • Foster a culture of ownership and accountability, ensuring leaders at all levels take responsibility for safety outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of assigned personnel


Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Natural Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience, including multi-site responsibility within distributed operations
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations
  • Proven experience operating in warehouse, heavy equipment, diesel/mechanical, or similarly complex environments
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling EHS programs across multiple locations or regions
  • Experience leading organizational change and cultural transformation initiatives related to safety
  • Strong ability to communicate and influence at the executive level, including presenting to senior leadership and driving alignment
  • Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop teams, building bench strength and leadership capacity within EHS
  • Proven ability to shift organizations to culture-driven safety models

Travel Requirements:

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Training certificates from National Safety Council or similar certifications a plus
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must pass all required pre-employment screenings which may include but are not limited to background checks, drug/alcohol testing, fit for duty testing, and any other job-related tests/screenings
