Job Summary: The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Director at Elevation Labs is responsible for ensuring the organization's full compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role includes overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of EHS policies, ensuring that all manuals and procedures are consistently updated to reflect any changes in laws and regulations. The EHS Director plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.
Essential Functions, Key objectives, and Responsibilities:- Promote a culture of safety and environmental excellence through ongoing monitoring, trend analysis, and process improvements.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal EHS regulations, as well as industry standards. Stay updated on changes in laws and adjust programs accordingly.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard evaluations to identify potential threats and implement preventive measures. Train and mentor leadership team on how to see and respond to hazards and risks in the workplace.
- Provide EHS training to employees and management, covering safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental best practices
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's EHS Management SharePoint Software to ensure effective management of all EHS-related activities and documentation.
- Oversee the submission, acquisition, and renewal of permits, licenses, and authorizations necessary for compliance with regulatory requirements including but not limited to hazardous material operations, wastewater, and stormwater.
- Manage the safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. This includes evaluating disposal methods for sustainability and cost impacts.
- Ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting to meet local, state, and federal EHS regulatory requirements.
- Lead the management of the site's industrial hygiene program, ensuring that all necessary protective measures are in place to maintain employee exposure levels below defined limits.
- Manage site ergonomic programs and implement changes to reduce the likelihood of MSD injuries.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive EHS policies and procedures in compliance with relevant regulations and that align with organizational goals.
- Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis process for EHS incidents including injuries, near misses, spills, and property damage.
- Promote a culture of safety. Champion the behavior-based safety program. Lead the site's Safety Committee to enhance overall safety efforts.
- Assist in the development of finished goods Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Manage workers' compensation claims in partnership with Human Resources.
- Calculate, track, and monitor sustainability KPIs related to water, waste, recycling, energy usage, and greenhouse gases. Drive sustainability continuous improvement.
- Oversee the submission of environmental, social, and governance activities and audits.
- Maintain proactive working relationships with local, state, and federal agencies. Coordinate inspections, promptly address potential deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide environmental, health, and safety recommendations to Elevation Labs engineers on capital expenditure projects.
- Lead and supporting EHS training during New Hire Orientation
- Manage the EHS budget, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure proper maintenance of safety equipment.
- Champion the site 5S program to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.

Education/Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Environmental Sciences or equivalent professional experience
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the cosmetics, pharmaceutic, food or chemical industry
- Have obtained or is in the process of obtaining an Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
- Knowledge and experience related to sustainability and carbon footprint reduction, specifically related to CPG customers
