Job Summary:

The EHS Auditor is responsible for participating in and leading, as applicable, audits to assess the effectiveness of the CF Locations meeting CF company and regulatory compliance expectations. This position also requires becoming proficient in an area of CF compliance expectations and supporting related activities from a Corporate perspective.

Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:

Compliance Support and Industrial Knowledge
  • Build and maintain both CF industrial and compliance expectations knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and CF internal standards based on internal and external information available.
  • Responsible for knowing CF internal standards and how they apply to CF Locations
  • Participation as a member of the respective CF Council assisting with tasks as needed, and work with the Corporate EHS Manager to share Council and audit information.
  • Support reporting in Corporate EHSQ Management Information System (EMIS) Database to drive business objectives and safety continuous improvement.


Leading and Participating in Audits
  • Assist as team member in a variety of compliance and management system audits.
  • Once demonstrated appropriate level of competency and training:
    • Schedules, manages, conducts and leads audit team throughout the process of Location audits. Sets up audit protocols and leads audit meetings.
    • Works with and manages third party auditors who assist on the audit team.
  • Lead auditor utilizes Corporate EMIS system to set up audits and generate reports. Audit team member inputs audit findings into Corporate EMIS system.

  • Position Reports To: Mgr, EHS Engineering & Projects


Incumbent Attributes:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred with an EHS related field (i.e. engineering), or equivalent experience
  • Years of experience: Minimum of 0-3 years of EHS compliance related experience
  • Other unique job relevant attributes: Possess basic auditing skills or be able to learn quickly based on training (internal to CF and external)
  • Experience with EHS compliance programs and familiarity with applicable EHS-related laws, rules and regulations
  • Industrial experience and knowledge of how EHS compliance requirements apply.
  • Demonstrated competence in effective verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated time management capability
  • Experience working with EHSQ database systems, and utilizing data analytics to drive insight into problem-solving
  • General competence in IT applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Must be able to travel to CF Manufacturing sites and DF terminals up to 50% of the time

  • Communications and Interpersonal Skills: Regularly communicates both in writing and verbally. Explains ideas and thoughts Communicates with internal and external customers related to work function. May communicate with others in addition to customers. Information exchanged generally requires basic knowledge. Minimal levels of influence and persuasion are required. Some influence and persuasion may take place with teammates.
  • Complexity: Generally, applies theoretical knowledge of the functional discipline to understand and handle routine challenges or problems. Works within established procedures to handle routine matters specific to the job and function.
  • Decision Making Authority: Decisions are governed by established policies and procedures within normal job duties based on prior similar situations and precedents. Seeks guidance and decision-making from supervisor or lead for exceptions to standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Financial Accountability: Minimal to no financial responsibility other than one's own performance.
  • Strategic Influence: Does not impact strategic and operational planning and execution.


Estimated base pay for the position is typically between: $84,500 - $111,500

The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.

In addition to base pay, an incentive program is available to all full-time employees, and a comprehensive benefits package including two medical plan options, a health savings plan with a company contribution and a match, dental and vision benefits, a well-being incentive program, 401(k) Plan which provides a potential of receiving between 10% and 13% of employer's contribution, life and disability insurance, paid time off programs and much more!
