About the role:

As an advocate for environment, health, and safety (EHS) as values at Boston Scientific, the EHS Specialist I assists in the development and support of programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with company requirements and all regulations pertaining to the site. This role will provide guidance, training, and support, while influencing engagement and contributions from EHS colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external resources to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our local office five at least three (3) days per week.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide EHS site support across office, laboratory, training, process development, and R&D environments while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company standards
  • Identify and reduce EHS risks through inspections, risk assessments, safety surveys, ergonomic evaluations, and timely corrective actions
  • Support the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Support EHS program, policy, procedure, training, audit, and continuous improvement activities
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, after-action reviews, and implementation of corrective actions and engineering controls
  • Provide EHS guidance for facility modifications, equipment installations, new processes, inspections, agency interactions, and operational projects
  • Conduct hazard identification and environmental assessments for processes, equipment, and chemicals, including industrial hygiene and SDS management
  • Support EHS metrics, documentation, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting to support compliance and corporate requirements
  • Coordinate environmental programs, including hazardous materials, hazardous waste, pollution prevention, recycling, and consultant support
  • Support EHS committees, cross-functional teams, emergency preparedness, and site emergency response activities
  • Support key EHS programs, including industrial hygiene, confined space, electrical safety, emergency action planning, machine guarding, fire prevention, lab safety, laser safety, contractor safety, respiratory protection, and safe facility design


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, safety engineering, safety management, occupational health, environmental science, or related discipline
  • Minimum 6 months of EHS experience in a commercial/office, laboratory, industrial, or manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 6 months of experience with safety-related programs, policies, procedures, and regulations


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in pharmaceutical, medical device, electronics, or similar highly-regulated industry
  • Experience with ergonomic risk reduction, emergency response, and incident command in a manufacturing, laboratory, or office setting
  • Experience working with Radiation and Laser Safety
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) - see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com-will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
