Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Position Summary

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, safety, and health programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role focuses on minimizing risk, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports, including SARA, RCRA, stormwater, emissions, and permit renewal applications.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to facility leadership.
  • Support timely internal and external reporting of EHS-related matters.
Safety Program Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for manufacturing processes.
  • Coach and support operational leaders on EHS initiatives and compliance requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts and company-wide safety initiatives.
  • Identify and implement industry best practices to strengthen facility performance.
Incident Management
  • Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Maintain incident records and coordinate regulatory reporting when required.
  • Provide guidance and support during emergency situations.
Training & Employee Engagement
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), emergency response, and safety awareness training.
  • Promote employee engagement and foster a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
Audits & Inspections
  • Conduct routine facility audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions through completion.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Analyze EHS metrics and implement action plans to address trends and opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, and/or CHP are preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety leadership experience.
  • Experience within chemical manufacturing or a related industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulations.
  • Experience with hazardous materials management, air permitting, and environmental reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours when necessary.
