What You Will Do

The Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford Site Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) organization is seeking an experienced individual looking for an opportunity to support and execute EH&S requirements, at a large multi-tenant site.

The individual will interact extensively with labor union representatives, management, supervisors, hourly and salary employees on various projects and teams.

Responsibilities include:
  • Program manager for key Health and Safety programs, including Ionizing Radiation, Confined Space, Machine Guarding and other critical EH&S programs.
  • Provide technical EH&S expertise to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as P&W/RTX requirements.
  • Deliver technical guidance to line management and council subcommittees to support effective execution of goals and objectives.
  • Support leadership in identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards and risks.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects with teams across and outside the EH&S organization.
  • Coordinate and conduct specialized health and safety audits and inspections, partnering with line management to develop action plans and drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform trend analysis on inspections, audits, injuries, spills, and near hits, and develop corrective actions to strengthen EH&S performance.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate EH&S programs into broader business operations, with emphasis on management system alignment.
  • Assist line management with robust investigations, mistake-proofing efforts, and immediate correction of unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Support effective implementation of the union complaint process.
  • Ensure required EH&S training is completed and provide assistance as needed.
  • Serve as a spill responder, providing onsite response and guidance on a rotating schedule.
  • Manage and support contractors involved in EH&S activities to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years EH&S regulatory compliance experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • EH&S regulatory and management systems knowledge required.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment preferred.
  • EH&S experience developing and implementing Safety and Health Program.
  • Mentoring and training experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or related industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Forming, facilitating, and maintaining internal and cross functional teams and relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement experience e.g., CORE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc.
  • Capable of working with a wide range of people from the site leader to shop floor and of providing team leadership when required to meet highly aggressive goals.
  • Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH or CHMM, strongly desired.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.

Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

May have broad knowledge of project management. Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.

Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
