Hours: 8a-4p, M-F
Position Summary:
Provides supervision, coaching, and mentoring to Classroom Teachers of Disabilities and Supplemental Teachersand/or educational staff. Supports and provides assistance to the Principal, faculty members, and staff members inspecialty/clinical-specific disciplines to contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the educational program for students.
Responsibilities
- Provides supervision, coaching, and mentoring to Classroom Teachers of Disabilities and Supplemental
- Teachers in the performance of various activities that support educational student/persons served programs inaccordance with the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student and operating in compliance with Divisionof Developmental Disabilities (DDD) regulations, N.J. Department of Education (DOE) regulations and standards,N.J. Administrative Code, and applicable state/local/federal regulations at all times:o Conducts classroom observations of Teachers92 performance, conducts individual conferences, assessesindividual performance, provides feedback, and signs off on performance reviews;o Develops individual performance improvement plans with and for Teachers and staff members;o Makes recommendations to Principal regarding the reemployment of Classroom Teachers of Disabilities andother faculty and staff members;o Places student teachers, practicum students, interns, and volunteers in the classroom environment; worksdirectly with staff in the assessment of field experiences. Issues daily staffing reports, assigns substitutes,etc.;o Conducts staff meetings, relays information from administration, and discusses and resolves staff concernsand issues in an effective and timely manner;o Participates in the educational planning for each student. Interacts on a regular basis with Educationmanagement, faculty members, one-to-ones, clinical-specific staff regarding the implementation of the IEPfor each student;o Initiates schedules and conducts meeting with consultation team members and classroom Teachers todiscuss individual student programming needs, student progress, etc. Works with staff in the development,modification, and implementation of programs designed in response to assessed student needs;o Follows and observes students served across multiple settings to support consistency of educationalprograms, interventions, and further the acquisition of functional and developmental skills/behaviors on anacademic, vocational, and transition level;o Provides assistance in the assessment of the individual abilities of each student to ensure the applicability ofthe IEP as received from the School District, N.J. State Department of Education, etc., and/or to support apossible change in placement for each student in accordance with established N.J. State Department of Education compliance requirements;
- Chairs IEP meetings, annual reviews, parent/guardian meetings, etc., and provides input to the IEP to
- ensure that goals and objectives are able to be met by the Education program and works directly with the
- School District to modify the IEP, if necessary, for each student served;
- Develops classroom rosters and assists faculty in ensuring a classroom environment conducive to maximum
- academic and social learning;
- Provides recommendations for strategies, materials, and activities to support student growth; e.g.,
- recommends implementation of alternative teaching techniques to better address student needs, rotation of
- faculty and/or staff, provides advice regarding education program structure, etc.;
- Participates in admission screenings to assist in the assessment of skills, learning abilities, and
- developmental needs of new students, provide recommendations for student92s appropriateness for the
- school program and class placements, assist in the development of behavior profiles, etc.;
- Facilitates access to instructional materials and related supplies for use by students.
- Provides direct assistance and support to faculty, other staff members, and clinical-specific staff in support of
- educational student programs:
- Maintains effective communications with, and serves as liaison between, faculty, other Education staff
- members, School District representatives, Residential Program Managers, parents/family members of
- students, etc., regarding delivery and/or re-evaluation of services, student grade placement, staff
- performance issues, parent/family member concerns, and a variety of educational, medical, and related
- student issues to identify, address, and resolve individual student needs in a timely fashion and to ensure the
- daily implementation of educational plans consistent with treatment goals;
- Interacts directly with DDD representatives, external agencies, protective services personnel, Quality
- management, etc., in response to internal and external investigations, operating within established policies
- and procedures and ensuring strict confidentiality of all information;
- o Serves as liaison with Human Resources Department regarding employee relations, employee discipline,
- employment/staffing needs, compensation, benefits, performance issues, training/education and professional
- development initiatives, etc., to ensure issues are addressed and resolved in a timely fashion;
- o On behalf of faculty, provides rationale to Principal in support of the acquisition of resources; e.g.,
- equipment, educational materials, supplies, etc., monitors classroom expenses, recommends workable
- alternatives in an effort to maintain or reduce expenses, and ensures adherence to established budgetary
- constraints;
- Reviews required paperwork/reports completed by faculty and other Education staff members for accuracy,
- completeness, and professionalism and submits to Principal in accordance with established timeframes.
- Ensures the maintenance of all documentation as required by state regulations and as determined by
- Principal; e.g., student progress reports, incident reports that cross settings, van assignments and
- scheduling, etc.;
- Provides necessary training to faculty, other staff members, clinical-specific staff; e.g., sessions on Positive
- Reinforcement, Feeding Protocols, Graphing Data, Writing Goals and Objectives, etc., provides training to
- faculty regarding compliance with Core Curriculum Content Standards (CCCS) for report preparation,
- Alternative Proficiency Assessment (APA) training, arranges for clinical-specific staff to provide discipline-
- specific training, creates study guides and materials, etc.;
- Teaches curriculum in the classroom, as needed, and/or provides coverage in classrooms, meetings, etc.;
- e.g., Interdisciplinary Team Meetings (IDT), IEP meetings, etc., in the event of faculty absences or staff
- shortages and to ensure a level of consistency for students, as well as a safe and secure teaching
- environment;
- Supports teachers in Professional Improvement Plan (PIP) goal attainment; e.g., works with faculty to ensure
- required re-certification training in compliance with DDD and DOE requirements.
- Provides administrative and clerical support and assistance to Principal to contribute to efficient and effective
- school operations:
- Reviews daily staffing requirements to ensure adequate coverage in classrooms and adherence to required
- levels of supervision; alerts Principal of any issues requiring immediate attention and resolution;
- Provides assistance and support to Principal regarding the development, monitoring, and ongoing adherence
- to the established school budget;
- Performs various clerical/administrative activities; e.g., ensures the timely completion and submission of
- faculty timesheets, establishes and maintains files, performs photocopying, etc.,
- Provides main office coverage in absence of Principal;
- Coordinates completion and dissemination of progress reports, IEPs, etc.
Qualifications
- Master92s Degree in Education or related field and a certification from the N.J. Department of Education required
- N.J. Supervising certificate required
- Minimum of three years of prior related experience required
