Job Description:

  • Assists with proper patient placement and facilitates patient movement throughout the Emergency Department.
  • Monitors staff efficiency, patterns, and time management related to patient treatment and movement.
  • Reduces patients' overall wait times through the Emergency Department.
  • Monitors standard treatment and benchmark criteria set by facility leadership to reduce occurrences of defined outlier or negative QA evaluations.
  • Maintains continuous communication with the Triage RN to ensure appropriate placement of patients per ESI.
  • Monitors the Emergency Department waiting room for surge conditions.
  • Rounds in all Emergency Department areas as needed with the Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager.
  • Communicates continuously with the Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager on changes, influxes of patients, and opportunities identified in the flow process.
  • Provides recommendations to leadership based on findings through data collection or experience to enhance current processes.
  • Monitors wait times for test results and contacts physicians and departments as needed.
  • Maintains open communication with the entire team.
  • Ensures the department is properly equipped at all times.
  • Collects various metrics and reports them to leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
