ECG Software Design & Release Engineer

Overview / Summary

The ECG Software Design & Release Engineer is responsible for leading the delivery, integration, and validation of gateway software across next-generation vehicle architectures. This role serves as a key liaison between software development teams, program management, and external suppliers to ensure high-quality software delivery, successful vehicle launches, and continuous post-launch improvements. The ideal candidate combines expertise in automotive embedded systems with strong project management and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery, integration, and validation of gateway software within vehicle programs.
  • Manage technical execution to ensure software releases meet project requirements, quality standards, and program milestones.
  • Support successful vehicle launches through timely software integration and functional validation.
  • Manage software maintenance, updates, and ongoing improvements to address post-launch issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and program stakeholders to support efficient software delivery.
  • Champion Agile methodologies to streamline development processes and improve delivery efficiency.
  • Partner with program management teams to establish and optimize processes that support on-time software delivery.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to troubleshoot, flash, test, and validate software at the system level.
  • Perform validation activities on simulation platforms and test vehicles to collect diagnostic data and improve software quality.
  • Utilize connected vehicle data and telemetry to support root-cause analysis, engineering problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify, assess, and manage software development and integration risks, implementing mitigation plans as needed.
  • Escalate critical risks and issues to appropriate stakeholders for timely resolution.
  • Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and effective problem-solving within the team environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive software development, software integration, or Systems/Design & Release Engineering.
  • Experience working with vehicle electrical architectures.
  • Experience working with Tier-1 and/or Tier-2 suppliers and managing software delivery timelines.
  • Experience participating in or leading vehicle launch activities.
  • Experience troubleshooting software issues in manufacturing, testing, or laboratory environments.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, and networking protocols and standards.
  • Experience using Jira and GitHub.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
