About Our TeamThe Solid Dynamics Experiments Department 1647 at Sandia National Laboratories performs research and development in high-pressure physics and operates two facilities: the Shock Thermodynamics Applied Research (STAR) Facility and the Dynamic Integrated Compression Experimental (DICE) Facility. STAR operates several high velocity launchers and DICE operates one launcher, a pulsed power machine (Thor), and a target fabrication laboratory. The facilities have state of the art metrology equipment and diagnostics for dynamic compression research including VISAR, PDV, high speed imaging, and x-ray diffraction and radiography. The department works closely with two other departments, HEDP Theory (1641) and Dynamic Material Properties (1646), a part of the HED Material Physics Group (1640), in turn a part of the Pulsed Power Sciences Center (1600).
Posting DurationThis posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of three (3) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.
