Description
The Chief Risk Office (CRO) leads the identification and management of risks across World Bank operations. The Environmental & Social Risk (CROES) unit provides corporate oversight for environmental and social (E&S) risks and supports implementation of the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).
CROES is seeking an ETC - Operations Officer to join the Director's Front Office. The position supports the Director in ensuring effective coordination, clear communication, and high-quality outputs across the Vice Presidency. The role involves close engagement with units across the World Bank Group, CRO risk teams, and other internal and external stakeholders and contributes to the preparation, review, and alignment of strategic and operational deliverables.
Duties and Accountabilities
Front Office Coordination and Communication
• Coordinate the flow of communications, requests, and deliverables to and from the Director's office.
• Serve as a liaison between the Director and internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and consistent responses.
• Support preparation of briefings, correspondence, and talking points for senior management engagements.
Quality Assurance of Deliverables
• Review and consolidate inputs for briefs, reports, presentations, and other deliverables submitted to the Director.
• Ensure materials are clear, concise, and tailored to senior management audiences.
• Support consistency of messaging across documents and teams.
Cross-Unit Coordination and monitoring
• Coordinate inputs across CRO units, Global Practices, Regions, and corporate functions.
• Monitor progress and flag emerging issues or risks requiring management attention.
• Support preparation of regular updates and status reports.
Knowledge Management and Internal Coordination
• Support coordination of knowledge management activities, including preparation and dissemination of internal knowledge products.
• Contribute to improving access to information and strengthening institutional learning and knowledge sharing.
Selection Criteria
• Advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) in business administration, economics, environmental/social development, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in operations, resource management, and/or program management.
• Experience supporting senior management on an operations officer level is highly desirable.
• Work experience as program manager of complex programs of both IFC and WBG is strongly desired.
• Familiarity with WBG operations and Environmental & Social operations is an advantage.
• Strong ability to synthesize complex information and produce high-quality written outputs.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating across teams and managing competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be assessed based on the delivery of timely, high-quality, and strategically aligned outputs, including:
• Timeliness and quality of materials submitted to the Director and senior management
• Effectiveness of coordination and communication across teams and stakeholders
• Responsiveness to senior management requests and priorities
• Effectiveness in tracking and supporting implementation of key priorities
• Contributions to improving front office processes and coordination mechanisms
